Television became a little goofier this week in 1992 when “Goof Troop” first aired on The Disney Channel. “Goof Troop” told the story of the struggles and silliness The Goof had while raising his son, Max, in suburbia. Goofy and Max joined Chip ‘n Dale (from their “Rescue Rangers” days) on stage in Mickey’s Starland as seen here in July 1992.
Goofy, Max, Chip and Dale were part of a stage show called “Mickey’s Magical TV World.” Upon exiting Mickey’s House, guests entered a theater where they could watch a live show featuring Disney Characters from The Disney Afternoon.
What was your favorite cartoon from The Disney Afternoon? Tell me in the comments section below! (Mine was “DuckTales” – Whoohoo!)
Comments
Ducktales! Would love it if Huey, Dewey and Louie would make appearances in the park!
Gargoyles! The show introduced me both to detective drama and Shakespeare. What other animated show can claim that?
I liked Tailspin, though the best theme song definitely goes to House of Mouse! (A few years later, though).
Please tell someone somewhere that we want House of Mouse available on disc!
I never missed an episode of Gummi Bears. I actually have a collection of every episode at home.
The correct answer is of course, Gargoyles.
I loved Disney Afternoon, especially the Gummi Bears! I wish they would do a Disney Afternoon weekend at Epcot like they had a PIXAR weekend. Use the World Showplace between the United Kingdom and France, play the cartoons, sell lots of Afternoon merchandise. Would be such a crowd pleaser and money maker. It would take a lot of my money actually. 🙂
The daring the duck of mystery!
Darkwing Duck (When there’s trouble you can call DW)
Darkwing Duck (Let’s get dangerous)
Darkwing Duck remains to this day one of my all-time favorite cartoons and one of my favorite superheroes.
Disney Afternoon’s finest (half) hour was Aladdin: the Series, but they’ve already got characters at the park. 🙂 Still waiting for it on disk, though.
Think Max still shows up with Dad once in a while, but he’s a rare character.
And I never realized there used to be a show near Mickey’s House–I missed all those years they tried to figure out what to do with Mickey’s Starland.
Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears
I loved all of the shows but my number one would have to be Tail Spin!
Who knew Baloo would turn out to be such a good pilot?
I loved this show as a kid!
And Darkwing Duck was my favorite.
Mine was Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck!
Definitely the “terror that flaps in the night”! I had all the action figures too, right down to Goslyn.
Ducktales!
Who’s your favorite nephew?
Mine was Ch-Ch-Ch-Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers.
Another classic! Now I’m singing the song at my desk. Out loud.
