I always enjoy visiting Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, especially with my son. It’s such a peaceful place that it always feels as if we’ve been transported a million miles away. Not to mention it’s a great place to watch the horses at Tri-Circle-D Ranch.

Check out this shot from photographer Mark Willard of the resort just waking up for the day. I can’t wait to visit again. What’s your favorite part of this resort?

See the posts below for more morning views from around Disney Parks:

  • Our family stays at Fort Wilderness every fall. It’s our favorite spot…anywhere. We love the peaceful atmosphere, the quiet music playing throughout the resort, the campfires under the stars, lounging by the pool, visiting the trading post at least once a day, and of course, all the Disney touches that make Ft. Wilderness magical.

Virginia-the “lawnmower tree” used to be situated on the left-hand side of the path leading to the settlement beach, but has been cut down.

  • I love watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach. Since their reflected in the lake, it doubles the impact. And then there’s the Electrical Water Pageant you can see from the same location. And then you walk back through the woods to your site. Totally magic. Totally relaxing! Totally Disney!

  • I believe the lawnmower tree is now gone, Virginia – can anyone on the Disney Blog team verify that?

  • I always try to find the “lawnmower tree”

  • We once walked from the Wilderness Lodge along the path to Fort Wilderness, explored the stables and other parts of Fort Wilderness… loved it. Have never stayed there but one day hope to in a cabin!

  • Just finished up my first stay at Fort Wilderness and this picture represents the soul of the resort. Peaceful. Such a relaxing place to be, it will be hard for me to not stay here next time we come down.

  • Great picture! Love the parks and resorts at night & dusk/dawn.

    • 🙂
