If you’ve wandered down Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland park recently, you may have noticed some of the windows along the front of the Emporium are covered. What is going on behind those blue curtains, you ask? Today, I’m excited to tell you!

The beloved Main Street animated windows will come to life once again for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration as Main Street Enchanted Windows. Since the early 1960s, scenes from Disney animated classics have been featured in the windows of the Emporium at Disneyland park. This year, for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, these classic windows will be updated with new, exciting technology and effects. Take a look behind the scenes of the creation of these windows with John Gritz, Creative Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, in the video below!

There will be a total of six Main Street Enchanted Windows. The first two, featuring the stories of “Peter Pan” and “Cinderella,” will be unveiled in May, followed by “Frozen” and “The Princess and the Frog” in July, and “Toy Story” and “Aladdin” in August.

The Main Street Enchanted Windows are just another way the Disneyland Resort continues to delight guests in ways both big and small … from our new nighttime spectaculars and the addition of new magic to classic attractions, to special details that catch your eye as you stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. See it all for yourself when the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration begins May 22!

  • When is the next unveiling? July has come and gone!

  • Ok, so I was at the park for the 60th and only saw 2 of these (Peter Pan and Cinderella) was there a delay in Frozen and Princess and the Frog?

  • This is GREAT!! Now Disneyland just needs the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game.

  • As a child, I was always loved seeing the new and exciting displays in the Emporium windows, which were always different from one visit to the next. I’m glad to see that this tradition is being brought back for a new generation.

I also appreciate that this announcement was made on the 10-year anniversary of the unveiling of the previous windows during the kickoff of the 50th on 05/05/05. Let’s hope that they’re continually updated, so people will have something small to look forward to in future years!

  • So awesome! I’m really looking forward to seeing them!

Please make sure that the mechanics of these displays are maintained. The Imagineers work so hard to create these fun things, and they should always be maintained and functioning as they are supposed to.

  • We are making our first trip to DL in August. We are so excited about the timing of the trip. It couldn’t be more exciting.

  • I can’t wait to see the windows!

When I was a child, the Main Street window displays/scenes were one of my favorite aspects of visiting Disneyland. They truly seemed magical to me, and so integral to the Disneyland experience. I could stare at them all day if given the chance (much to the chagrin of the adults with me!). I hope that today’s children who visit the parks will love the new window scenes as I much as I did.

I really think that my early years of gazing in wonder and awe at those Enchanted Windows on Main Street helped to teach me (at a very young age) to pay attention to the details, both obvious and more subtle, and to never overlook anything, if possible — because there are surprises and treasures around every corner at Disneyland. To this day, one of my favorite things about the Halloween Time and Holiday seasons at DL is the theme-specific window displays on Main Street!

  • This is magic right up there with all the other 60th offerings. This is one of the first magical experience when entering the park and it has been ignored too long. Cannot wait to see these next generation windows.

  • So many new magical things coming in just a few weeks! I’m beyond excited! So glad to live so close to the park! ^_^

  • OMG i love the story in the windows on main street. i remember when disney movies would come out and disneyland would make a little story in the windows.
