Last month, my fellow Disney Parks Blog author and friend, Shannon Swanson, got a “Penny For Your Thoughts” as she took you inside the Electromechanical Shop and behind-the-scenes of the making of coin presses at the Disneyland Resort. Shannon mentioned that I would have exciting news to share, and I do — as part of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, we are introducing sixty (60) new pressed coins themed to favorite attractions, icons and characters!

How can you tell which designs are being introduced for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration? Here are a few tips to help you out!

  • Look for the special 60-D symbol which appears on the art for each new die.
  • Each coin will bear a special back-stamp that says Est. July 17 1955 – Disneyland Resort 60-D!

One of my favorite things is the new Pressed Coin Location Guide that features all of the presses throughout the Disneyland Resort. All of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration pressed coins can be found by simply locating the diamond icon next to the coin image. Where can you find the pressed coin location guides? Great question — the new guides are available here on the Disney Parks Blog! Take a look at the images below or download the PDF here. You can also find printed brochures at City Hall in Disneyland park, Chamber of Commerce at Disney California Adventure park and select merchandise locations throughout the Disneyland Resort.

Tip: There is a specially designed Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration collector’s book to help you keep track of your collection.

Finally, there’s one last thing before I go: keep an eye out for special ‘Decades’ presses in the Downtown Disney District that will only be available for limited period of time.

  • I was just there April 15-19th so I will not be back for 60th. Is there a store in Disneyland that I can buy all of the 60th special Pressed Coins. I loved the video of them being made. Want to start a collection for Grandson that we just took for his first trip.

    • Hi Charlene! Unfortunately the only way to get the different coins would be to travel throughout the parks to collect them.

  • This makes me so happy! 🙂 I wish I could go soon, but it will be a while before I can get there to press all these. The guide to download is VERY nice and handy.

You can usually find nice people to press all the coins for you if you pay for them, but this is quite a few. I have asked people online to get me a few before and mail them to me.

    • I’m so glad that you like the guide. We thought it would be a fantastic way for our fans to get into the spirit of pressing coins and a wonderful way to keep track of what they already have.

  • Yay for Duffy pressed coins! I’ve ben looking at every coin machine for some Duffy love. 🙂

  • Someone said the new coin presses are only going to be around for a couple weeks and then go away. Is this true?

    • Nicole, the presses will be here throughout the duration of the celebration. However there will be new ones introduced that will have shorter time frames of availability. Those particular coins are actually released in conjunction with the Decades collection.

  • I will be visiting Disneyland from Nov 7-14, will the celebration still be taking place and will I still be able to make these coins at the presses?

  • Thanks for posting this Michelle, I’m very excited about this new pressed coin collection! I was wondering if you know when the Frozen coin press will be in place at Anna & Elsa’s Boutique (the guide has it listed as “coming soon”). I’ll be there in about a week and a half and would love to add those ones to my collection along with the 60th Anniversary coins!
    Thanks again!

  • Hi Michelle-

We will be at Disneyland and California Adventure during the week of Christmas, my question is…is there a limit as to how many you can press, I have three children with me…will I be able to press three individual coins at a time…and is there a long wait at the presses? Trying to figure out the best way to make the most of our time at the parks.

Thank you for any help or advise. Jordon

  • Hi Michelle,

Do you happen to know when the new/different coin presses will be added or changed? I collected all of the ones the day they were released, but I’ve checked for new maps every time I’m there and haven’t seen any new presses released. Will this be announced or will a new map be put out, or are the only ones changing are the “decades” machine at World of Disney? and how often are they changing?

    Thank you!
