There’s a chill in the air. Have you felt it? A little snow cloud is descending upon Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and soon there will be frozen fractals all around as we open up the gates to the 2015 edition of Frozen Summer Fun!
This summer-long special event starts Wednesday, bringing with it a full day of “Frozen” fun from park open to park close. Here are the highlights of what’s new this year:
Frozen Royal Welcome – This procession of Arendelle’s finest happens twice each day, and this year Olaf is joining the fun. You’ll get to see Anna and Kristoff, of course, and Elsa makes an appearance on an all-new ice palace float!
Olaf’s Summer Cool Down – This new show on the event stage at the center of the park brings Olaf and some of his friends to have a little fun with everyone “In Summer.” And as temperatures heat up, Olaf happily shares a burst from his personal snow cloud to cool things off.
“Frozen Fever” – Head into the ABC Sound Studio to enjoy special screenings of the new animated short “Frozen Fever,” along with a peek behind the scenes at the making of the film.
For the First Time in Forever: A “Frozen” Sing-Along Celebration – This popular show moves into the beautiful Hyperion Theater at the heart of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where you’ll discover all-new in-theater effects and special appearances by Anna, Elsa and Kristoff.
“Frozen” Fireworks – Following the “Coolest Summer Ever” Dance Party, Olaf returns to the event stage with Anna, Elsa and Kristoff for a grand finale to the day’s festivities, kicking off an awe-inspiring fireworks display set to the glorious music of “Frozen” and, of course, a flurry of snow!
Frozen Summer Fun begins June 17 and continues through September 7, 2015. Maybe it’s the party talking or the chocolate fondue, but I’m really looking forward to checking out all the new features of this year’s event! What are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.

We are going at the end of October. Will all the Frozen events be gone?
I have the Frozen Summer Package reservation and thought the fireworks were at 9:45 pm. The reservation is for July 20. We also have a Fantasmic dinner package and the only way to get the preferred seating passes is for the earlier 9 pm Fantasmic show. It was going to be a tight fit to make it to the fireworks, but if they are at 9:30 pm now instead, it doesn’t look like we can do both. Do you know if the 10:30 pm showing of Fantasmic tends to be less crowded? Are fast passes given out for the 10:30 pm show? I already have FastPass+ passes scheduled for earlier in the day, but maybe when those three are used up we could get Fastpasses for the later showing of Fantasmic. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Wendy – Yes, the second showing of Fantasmic is typically less busy than the first on any given night, and Fastpass+ is available for that show as well. Of course, there’s no guarantee that there will still be availability for that show day-of, once you’ve used your first three Fastpasses, but it’s worth a shot. Otherwise, just plan to watch Frozen Fireworks from near the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd, and then head directly to Fantasmic once the show is done.
Thanks Shawn! That is very helpful in planning our day!
Do you know if for the premium package, you can priority seating for either the 10:30 or 1:30 royal welcome, or is it only for the 10:30am one? thank you!
Gilana – I checked with the team at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and they let me know the premium package reserved viewing for Frozen Royal Welcome is only available at the 10:30 performance.
We loved the skating opportunity last summer, in fact it was our favorite part. Will the ice rink be returning ?
Douglas – This year, all the Frozen Summer Fun activities have been consolidated into the center of the park, creating a centralized area where Guests can find all the “Frozen” festivities. Unfortunately, ice skating and snow play are not able to be accommodated in that area, but we are introducing some new shows and experiences that I think you’ll enjoy.
Hi Shawn – really looking forward to joining in the Frozen fun when we visit in August. As the only female in the family I have to be a little pushy to get my boys to join me for ‘princess time’, but there seems to be plenty of boy action with the addition of Olaf. Is there a timetable we can access to plan our day at Hollywood Studios without missing any of the Frozen-ness!
Caron – My boys enjoy Frozen and the Frozen Summer Fun events, so I think the guys in your family should have a good time, too. As for planning, the My Disney Experience mobile app should be updated with all the show time information for the event once things kick off tomorrow.
Good Morning
We are visiting in August and have booked a Fantasmic package. How does the timing of the frozen fireworks fit in with Fantasmic please ? Will we be able to do both ?
Thanks
Nicola
Nicola – Most nights, Frozen Fireworks are scheduled at 9:30 p.m. with Fantasmic at 9 and 10:30. It’s possible to see Frozen Fireworks first, and then head down to Hollywood Hills Amphitheater for the second showing of Fantasmic. Please note, however: Frozen Fireworks will not be presented on July 4 or July 15.
What will be the two times during the day that the Royal Welcome will occur?
Carol – Frozen Royal Welcome will happen at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day of the event.
We were able to attend Frozen Summer Fun last year and my family and I are really looking forward to the additions to this years version. We only have to wait for August to get here.
Will there be an Olaf meet and greet?
Cartier – Olaf won’t be available for individual greetings, but there will be plenty of opportunities to see him during the Frozen Royal Welcome, Olaf’s Summer Cool Down and the finale show leading into “Frozen” Fireworks.
What food and shopping experiences will there be? I will be there later this week!
Kyle – I’m more versed on the Entertainment aspects of the event, but I know our Food & Beverage team has planned some specialty beverages and treats (the Olaf carrot cake cupcakes are fantastic!). There will also be plenty of “Frozen” merchandise available, from a shop adjacent to the Hyperion Theater as well as other locations across the park.
Great! Wanting to finalize ours plans, what time are the Fireworks on Sept 6th?
Janel – “Frozen” Fireworks will be presented at 9 p.m. on that date.
