I can’t imagine a more perfect sky than the one caught in this terrific shot of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park (Paris).

The 167-foot castle is truly magical, as it’s look was inspired by the castle in “Sleeping Beauty” as well as various French monuments. Word has it that the castle also features a sleeping dragon in its basement, who occasionally awakens when guests are near. Now that’s magic.

  • In French Sleeping Beauty Castle is actually called Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant.

  • Any new pins to purchase from Disneyland Paris & how? Merci beaucoup! – The Disney Pin Princesses

  • Such a pretty castle. I never got why the trees were pruned like squares/rectangles though. Any idea Jennifer?

  • @Dustin: Well, it´s Sleepin Beauty Castle – the entire surroundings (trees, rocks…) are very reminiscent of the very distinct style Eyvind Earle brought to the animated feature “Sleeping Beauty”. The trees in particular are almost direct copies from the movie. I don´t know if it´s ok to post links here – you can simply google for his concept art for the movie – that will answer your question better than I ever could. Oh, and do watch the movie, in case you do haven´t seen it, yet 🙂 BTW – there are some scenes in “Maleficent” that are also heavily influenced by Eyvind Earle´s work, in particular the scene where SB meets the Prince.
