Sixty years ago today, Walt Disney dedicated his dream project: Disneyland – a land beyond the boundaries of the motion pictures with which he’d made his reputation, a park where families and guests of all ages could be immersed in worlds of fantasy and adventure.

As part of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, we announced this morning that we will honor 60 years of Walt’s dream with our Million Dollar Dazzle program. Each month during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, the Million Dollar Dazzle Crew will surprise one or more Southern California nonprofits with a $60,000 gift, totaling more than $1 million. Girl Scouts of Orange County was surprised with the first gift at the ceremony today.

Check back later today for video from this special ceremony!

  • Happy 60th Birthday Disneyland ºoº in 1985 Disneyland was celebrating the 30th Birthday and with this celebration they gave way free tickets in to the park all the way up to a brand new car. How you would win was when you walked threw the gates if a #3 came up, for example 3, 30, 300, 3000, 30,000 etc. while walking threw the gates you were a winner. I was a winner and my ticket read no# 3000 and I won a very nice gift. At first I was hoping it was the car, I was 19yrs old & no one told what me what the prize was and they had me take a picture with the Characters, and Cast Member took me into a different room then the ones who won one the plush or a returning ticket in to the park. I won this beautiful watch. It has a gold face, hidden Mickey with a ribbon design and the years 1955-1985. Of course I would have preferred the car, but now 30yrs later and I still have my watch in the safe with my Cast Member watch that I received at the Santa Barbara Disney Store when I worked there in the early 90’s (of course its closed now) But I am so proud and honor that I won this Beautiful 30th Birthday Disney Watch. I have loved Disney pretty much my whole life, my profile picture is the 1st time at Disneyland and when I met Mickey Mouse (who is my favorite Character) in 1969 and I was 3yrs old. Of course my whole family and most of my in laws loves Disney too!!! I will say thank you for all the Memories/Celebration that our family has made since I was a little girl all the way up to this last Mon July 13 and Tue July 14th our 25th Wedding Anniversary its so special, but oh so Magical! Here is to another 60yrs of Disneyland and so many walking threw the gate Making Memories, and Walking Down The Main Street USA! ºoº Love you all! ºoº

  • It is wonderful that Disney carries the Magic outside the resort. What an honor to be part of this 60th Diamond Anniversary. When I was a child I was one of 7 siblings (who rarely got to keep her “E” ticket) that came to the park annually. When I had children I kept up that tradition. Today my children are 25 and 26 and they too are recipients of shared love and magical moments. What a wonderful way to share the Magic outside the parks. <3
