On Friday, we marked 60 years of happiness at the Disneyland Resort with a day full of celebrations. From thousands of cupcakes to special photo locations, guests joined in to help us commemorate the anniversary of Disneyland opening day – July 17, 1955. Take a look back!
Did you celebrate the 60th anniversary of Disneyland opening day with us on Friday? Tell us about it in the comments!

Came all the way from the Uk to celebrate. Fabulous Hi-5 greetings by all the CMs along the way to the park. To see Richard Sherman, Bob Gurr and Dick Van Dyke in the flesh – just fabulous. Everybody got a cupcake or two. A day I will never forget. Happy Birthday Disneyland.
I was there, my bff was born the day Disneyland opened, and we had been there for the 40th and 50th, we planned on being there for the 60th, but she passed away almost 2 years ago. It was the only place I wanted to be on her 60th birthday. It was a magical day, she was certainly there with me.
We were there and made it onto the video! We dressed to the nines to pay homage to Walt. We LOVE Disney and have been AP holders for nearly 15 years and have been at the park on July 17, nearly every year since we learned that was the “magical” day. The 50th was wonderful, but this year, the 60th was phenomenal! We are so grateful for all of our Disney memories and to now be part of the blog video is just fantastic!
you look super cute Erin!
Thank you 🙂
Sadly, I was unable to be there on Friday. But I celebrated Disneyland’s birthday and my own by wearing my brand new 60th anniversary ears! (Thanks to my best friend for gifting them to me!) So now I have my 50th and 60th ears. Looking forward to the 70th!
does anyone know when the 60th anniversary celebration is going to stop…thanks
Janet – An end date has not yet been announced.
Erin this was great, thanks for recapping the special day. This vid was a great way to start off the work week!
We all dressed retro 1955 so maybe our dresses and hats were cooler, but we had a totally comfortable and not too crowded day! Cupcakes were delicious! Enjoyed the CM calvacade too. Thank you!
The day was so special! The cast members greeting everyone along Main Street was just wonderful! What a magical start to an amazing day!
Would not have missed it for the world!
I was there. Sooooo many people and it was sooooo hot. We didn’t get Mickey ears like on the 50th. Apparently they were given out on May 22, 2015. Go figure. I plan to be there on the 75th. Is that the next BIG one?
We were there, I was crying while Richard Sherman and Ashley Brown performed “Feed the Birds.” A magical moment.
Yes I did celebrate all the way from OHIO. I wore my Disneyland shirt which I just purchased in June. It was also the 1st time we ever visited Disneyland.
It was my 29th! Happy Birthday Kyle 😉
Erin, I was riding the Mark Twain Friday afternoon and was involved with a filming of it coming into dock celebrating. Do you know where this footage will be used? I’d love to see it! 🙂
Not only was it Disneyland’s 60th Birthday it was my 25th Birthday as well! Enjoyed the free cupcakes!
