While looking through some historical footage recently, I came across this sweet treat. I can’t help but think that 50 years ago these dancing candles were delighted in the fact they were taking part in history during the 10th anniversary celebration of Disneyland park. Enjoy this calorie-free video!

And keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog tomorrow as we celebrate the official 60th anniversary of the Disneyland Resort! You can also follow along on Twitter and Instagram with @Disneyland and on Facebook.com/Disneyland. Don’t forget the hashtag #Disneyland60!

  • Very cute – time appropriate. Especially enjoyed seeing old costumes on characters, & how the cake pieces manage to become one. Leave it to Disney to make a dancing cake mesmerizing, complete with flickering candle flames! Happy Birthday & many more! =)

  • This was strictly filmed for the TV show (I note unlike any other celebration, there’s almost no audience footage), which also featured Disneyland ambassador (and very soon, Disney Legend) Julie Reihm getting some previews of New Orleans Square, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion, along with Rolly Crump showing some things that didn’t eventually get there in the end, plus a history of Disneyland narrated by Walt himself.

A very good episode, in which this little bit here ends up the silliest in hindsight.

Still, happy birthday and all that. I’ll be following the twitter feed (hopefully, with the actual ABC broadcast running off my DVD in parallel) soon as the celebrations (re)start.

  • That is awesome. I hope they do something special tomorrow. I’ll be at the park bright and early.
