This week, we shared some updates for enjoying the holidays at Disney Parks, including two new options at the Walt Disney World Resort: the Merry & Bright Dessert Party (Nov. 6-Dec. 30) and the Merry & Bright Dinner Reception (Jan. 1- 3), both overlooking The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We have more details on both experiences in our original post.

Also, we shared that this holiday season will mark the finale for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The display of lights has enjoyed a successful run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, going all the way back to when it first appeared on Residential Street.

In order to prepare for some incredible experiences coming to the park, including the recently announced Toy Story Land and a Star Wars-themed land, we will not be able to present The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in the future. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the family of Jennings Osborne for letting us share their family tradition year after year.

Also this week, it was clear that Fall officially arrived at Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Jennifer gave readers another behind-the-scenes look at how cast members worked through the night to ready the park for the season.

Of course, the area really comes alive during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which returns to the park in a few days. Will you be joining us?

Here are some of the other stories we worked on this week.

  • Ricky–
In all likely hood, the Frozen sing-along show will close by the time the Frozen-inspired Musical opens.

So perhaps Muppet Vision will return, (Or hopefully a *new* Muppet attraction.)

  • I absolutely love that the Hatbox Ghost is joining the Holiday Haunted Mansion! He looks great! The news of Aladdin closing is truly sad, especially learning something Frozen will replace it. Why not replace it with an original show or bring something back to continue the 60th celebration?

  • Paulina–
It’s going to happen. There is no stopping it. The Aladdin musical first started in 2003. It’s been playing for 12 years. It was wonderful, but it’s time for a new musical for the venue.

  • From what I read, I think people are most concerned about Frozen being overdone. I hadn’t realized that the Royal Theatre in Disneyland replaced the Tangled and Beauty & Beast shows with Frozen. In California Adventure, Muppets 3D was replaced with another Frozen entertainment. Plus the meet & greet which requires a fast pass.

When Aladding is replaced with Frozen, will there really be four Frozen-based entertainment venues (three if not including the meet-and-greet)?

  • PLEASE don’t take away Aladdin for Frozen 🙁
