Over the last several weeks, “Disney Springs” has started to replace “Downtown Disney” on roadway signage and throughout property. Today, I’m thrilled to share that the name change is official!

Disney Springs is now live online at and via Twitter at @DisneySprings. And the timing couldn’t be better, as we are now celebrating two new one-of-a-kind dining experiences at The Landing: Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar which debuted last week, and Morimoto Asia, officially opening to guests tomorrow, September 30, 2015.

We couldn’t be more excited to operate under our new name as Disney Springs continues to grow and transform through Summer 2016, truly making it “your place to be.”

  • I LOVE Downtown Disney/Marketplace. For many years,I have been traveling 2 hours from home each way to attend the wonderful FESTIVAL of the MASTERS ART SHOW the second weekend of November every year. I was in shock a couple years ago when I drove all the way over there and the show had been cancelled due to all of the construction. I have not been back since. I really really miss that show in this amazing beautiful venue with so many restaurants to choose from. It also featured Folk Artists and Disney Artists and Sidewalk Chalk Artists. I can learn to call it “Disney Springs” but I am so hoping they will PLEASE bring back that wonderful ART SHOW! There is nothing like it anywhere.

  • Funny I saw two brothers and their kids having fun! I remember all the changes and I guess with the times you have to change the name. Just how did you come up with the name? Is it still kid friendly with picture spots?

  • Everything looks wonderful. But would agree that the Adventurers Club was the best thing going at DTD. Loved it! Comedy Club was fun as well. Need more venues like that and less stores. Hopefully Parasido37 will have entertainment.
Like the themed bars again some kind of entertainment or patron participation.

  • To me it will always be The Village. I believe that is what it was called in the early 80s. I was just a kid then.

  • We miss the Comedy Warehouse! It was so much fun!

  • I have not seen DS in a few months but can not wait to see recent changes.

    I love the new DS.

I am still greatly disappointed there was NOT a place for the Adventurers Club in DS.

The Adventurers Club was my favorite attraction at WDW and/or DLR.

  • Walt would be proud.

  • Was just there went to the hanger. Great job on the decor but not much reason to go there unless you are a bar fly. Good stuff but the service is slow

  • I will have a hard time not calling it downtown Disney. When I look at the picture I see families having fun. All types and nationalities of people go to and work for Disney. This is just one picture.

  • In response to Kathleen above… yes, the bottom picture depicts a young, white family. Did you notice the top picture of the family appearing to have two dads? And they look like they could be of Hispanic or Arabic descent. I would say they have the diversity thing in check 🙂

  • I applaud you Disney! Thank you for featuring a same sex couple in your photo! Bravo!

  • Hey Darcy, do you happen to know what the hours are for Disney Transportation System to and from Disney Springs to my resort hotel? Is it still until 2 a.m. or is it earlier now? Can’t wait to visit!

  • Fantastic! Now we’ll know which side of the country you(and others) are talking about as our CA version is also called Downton Disney!

  • I like Downtown Disney but I am thrilled with what was done to the old Pleasure Island. It would have been nice if at least on of the pictures in this blog post were of someone other than a young, white family,

  • KUDDOS to @disneysprings and Disney Parks Blog! Thank you for this update on the evolutions of Downtown Disney to Disney Springs. I especially like the photos of the two distinct and different families portrayed in this post that will enjoy all the new additions to this destination. Looking forward to experiencing Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar this weekend.

  • So which is your favorite name:
    Lake Buena Vista
    Disney Marketplace
    Pleasure Island
    Downtown Disney
    Disney Springs

Have I left any out? 🙂

  • This is great news, I will miss DtD but this whole concept will be great for generations. I remember Disney Village and welcomed the advancements from then, just as I will now. I look forward to visiting next year!
