The holidays are fast approaching and we know that many of you are starting to make your plans. Two more options for holiday fun at Walt Disney World Resort will soon be available to book: the Merry & Bright Dessert Party (Nov. 6-Dec. 30) and the Merry & Bright Dinner Reception (Jan. 1- 3), both overlooking The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

With the dessert party, guests will enjoy holiday-themed desserts while surrounded by the amazing light display. New for 2015 is a dinner reception Jan. 1 – 3, featuring a selection of small bites including beef, shrimp and turkey, plus wine, beer and specialty beverages. You’ll be able to book these experiences beginning Sept. 16, so check back at around that time for full details and to reserve your spot.

As you plan ahead, we also wanted you to know that this holiday season will mark the finale for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The display of lights has enjoyed a successful run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, going all the way back to when it first appeared on Residential Street.

In order to prepare for some incredible experiences coming to the park, including the recently announced Toy Story Land and a Star Wars-themed land, we will not be able to present The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in the future. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the family of Jennings Osborne for letting us share their family tradition year after year. And thank you to all of you for being part of the spectacle with us. Here’s to making more memories in this, the 20th and final year.

  • I had to do a little work to locate a place where I could express my HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT with the (proposed) removal of the Osbourne Family Christmas Lights from HS. PLEASE use your Disney talents to find a place to relocate without charging. It was something so unique to Disney. From a guest who has been coming on a repeated basis since 1970. WDW, PLEASE HEAR US!

  • Our Family Strongly suggest that Disney World find a place to retain the Osborne Family lights.

  • I am so disappointed that Walt Disney World would cancel the Osborne Lights. It has become a tradition for our family to see these lights every year. It was bitter sweet for me this year because my husband passed 2 years ago and this was the first time I went back since his passing. He loved the lights and I felt he was there with me enjoying the lights. Please reconsider your decision. I’m sure you could find another place for them or maybe expand the studios enough to house the lights every year. Thank You LOVE the lights, Mary

  • I guess no more Disney trips in December for us. It is not the same in WDW without Osborne lights during Christmas time 🙁 One of the main reasons we go to Disney.

  • I hope Disney will consider moving the display elsewhere. The Osborne lights are the reason our family comes at Christmas each visit.

  • I hope Disney will reconsider removing the Dancing Lights. Its one of the reasons we have attended recently. I don’t think Disney realizes how important this is visitors to the park.

  • Heartbroken to learn this. We visited the lights again on my 35th birthday this year (Nov 24th). The lights have a special place in our hearts as its the last holiday tradition that we shared with my Grandfather before he passed away in 2007. So very sad to learn of its closure. I appreciate that there is a lot to be said for progression and renewal, but tradition also has an important part in our lives and in Disney too. If it didn’t – we wouldn’t still have the ‘Carousel of Progress’ in action 50 years after its inaugural performance. Surely there is a place for everything. Could the Osborne lights not move to Epcot?

  • Please, please move Street of Lights to another location. This has been a Christmas tradition for our family for over ten years. Can’t imagine Christmas without it! So many people travel to WDW each Christmas to see the Osborne Spectacle of Lights! There has to be another location it can be moved to!

  • I am stunned and saddened by the end of the Osborne lights and Star Wars weekends. We have been annual passholders and Disney fans for 20 years straight, but I doubt we will be renewing; these cancellations were the last straw. What a shame that Disney could not find alternate locations or ways for families to continue to enjoy these traditions.

  • The Osborne lights have been my very favorite event at Disney for many years. It is just so spectacular. We stay there for the entire evening to just enjoy the wonderment of it all. We were there last Christmastime.
I was 43 when I first was able to come to Disney World. That was 30 years ago. We had 5 children & the cost was unattainable until then. I literally skipped thru Magic Kingdom as I was so excited.
Since then we have had the privilege of being at your resorts & parks many times. And even on several cruises.
For our 50th wedding anniversary we took our family on one of your 7-day cruises to celebrate!
I just have to let you know that Christmastime at Disney is just”over the top”. My favorite place to celebrate the season. Just like my favorite ride “Soarin”, please find another place at Disney to place the Osborne Family Light show so that our grandchildren can come to enjoy such a wonderful experience. Our son & his wife just had triplets so I know there will be more patrons coming along to enjoy this GREAT display. Thank you!

  • One of the main reasons I was planning a special family vacation next year (35 plus people) was to have everyone enjoy the the Osborne lights together. This is so disappointing! Please relocate them so we can still enjoy the magic they bring to the season.

  • We are Passholders in Nebraska – we typically visit WDW 2 or 3 times per year, but our annual visit in Dec each year is the real reason we loved Disney – Disney Christmas! I was disappointed when the Country Bears Christmas show was discontinued but I thought I would get over it. I have not – but, realistically, it was only a small part of Disney Christmas. When the EPCOT Lights of Winter ended, I was devastated and considered ending my Disney vacations. I did not stop coming because we still had the Osborne Lights – the absolute ultimate marvel of Disney Christmas – so tacky, yet so perfect! Each trip, we would typically bring new family and friends to enjoy the Lights. I cannot even begin to describe how disappointed we are with the end of the Osborne Lights. This will very likely be the end of Disney for us. Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion.

  • I know there has to be a creative team who works for Disney that can preserve such a special tradition along with the new and excited Star Wars project. PlEASE HELP SAVE THE OSBORN LIGHTS!!!!!!
