I’m delighted to share that guests now have new snack options at Disney Parks called Snacks with Character. This Disney-branded line of better-for-you snacks is great for guests looking for dietary alternatives related to food allergies or lifestyle choices. I recently spoke with Patrice Guy, merchandiser with Disney Theme Park Merchandise, about how these items were created.
“We listened to guests who said they wanted options when it comes to snacks at Disney Parks,” explained Patrice. “The Snacks with Character line was developed in collaboration with Merchandise Product Development, Food and Beverage Health and Wellness, Disney Design Group, and various suppliers in this field. We hope guests will enjoy these new tasty treats that are fun to share.”
To create these treats, Disney Theme Park Merchandise teamed up with well-known specialty suppliers such as Ocean Spray, Enjoy Life Foods, Way Better Snacks and WOW Baking Company. Several of the dietary needs addressed in the new assortment products include gluten-free, nut-free, and other allergy-friendly products.
The Snacks with Character line will launch with 11 new items. Look for the snack option from Ocean Spray later this year at Disney Parks.
Guests should look for these select items in merchandise locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, on Disney Cruise Line ships, and at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa.
Select food and beverage locations at Walt Disney World Resort will also carry Snacks with Characters.

We love Goofy’s Candy Co. at Disney Springs, but don’t get the make-your-own candy apples, etc., because of possible cross contamination of nuts with the other toppings. Would Disney consider separating the area with the nuts from the rest of the toppings? Thank you very much.
Thank you! I’m allergic to dairy and gluten, and it’s a little hard to see others eating all these yummy snacks. I can imagine how kids with allergies feel! It’s just awesome that you’re giving us special snacks too!
Great news! This is definitely a step in the right direction. I know that WOW Bakery is committed to producing NonGMO and gluten-free goodies, and their treats are outstanding. I’m glad that you will be offering their treats. Do you know if any of the offerings will be organic? Or at the very least free of GMOs? It’s important that we know what we’re feeding our children and ourselves!
@June – Please check out the packaging for these items. There are clear markings that state the information you are seeking.
I see you didn’t answer the question about if they are GMO free or not, that is something that is currently not labeled, but MANY people want to be aware of if there are GMOs ingredients in their food or not, so again, I ask are these GMO free?
@Christopher – My apologies if you didn’t think I answered the question. I invite you to check out the products next time you are at Disney Parks. They have printing on the outside of the packaging that gives you the information you seek. I held several things in my hands today and could easily see the labeling (including GMO free items). I hope this is helpful.
Thank you so much!!! My son has multiple food allergies and it is nice that he will now have more options for special treats and snacks at Disneyland!!!
This is so exciting. My 9 yr old is allergic to tree nuts and we love Disney Trips. We usually try to pack our own snacks but this will be very convenient for us both on our upcoming trip. YAY!!
This is so great to hear! So excited to check them out in Aug!
Thank you to DW! mY young GF grandchildren will be able to buy snacks. Can’t wait for our next visit!
Does anyone know if any of these snacks are sugar-free for diabetics?
@Audrey – The best recommendation is to check out the ingredient panels for a complete listing of ingredients used in Snacks with Character items.
That’s great news! Celiacs everywhere are cheering:-)
Are these items included as part of the dinning plan. Makes for smarter choices for the family.
@Arlene – You may notice in the photos above that some items are part of the Disney Dining Plan. I would look for the Disney Dining Plan logo during your next visit.
Are these snacks being added to the various allergen-free options in the parks/resorts? Or are they replacing some of them? I wouldn’t want you to replace any of the gluten-free options, especially the OMG gluten-free cookies and brownies!
@Jane – They are being added as snack options in select merchandise locations. Some food and beverage locations at Walt Disney World Resort will also carry Snacks with Characters.
FYI – not all of these are allergy friendly. Some have a nut allergy warning on them. This seems to be more aimed at gluten free diners.
I just want to send a huge thanks for including more vegan snack options at the parks. There’s still a lot of work to be done as far as actual meals are concnered, but it’s nice to know that my family can at least find a little something, and that we don’t have to bring all of our own snacks into the parks with us.
These are awesome! I’m loving the vintage style package design.
I just purchased some of these snacks yesterday, I was glad to see something a little healthier to snack on instead all of these sweets.
The lemon cookies were fantastic! I don’t even partake of a gluten-free diet, I just love lemon-flavored items and these hit the spot. Plus, you got quite a bit in the bag.
@Becky – Right on! I thought they were pretty yummy as well. Glad you liked them. 🙂
Any chance these snacks are GMO free? Free of artificial colors and preservatives? Organic? Pesticide Free?
@Christopher – My best advice would be to read the ingredient panels for a complete listing of ingredients used in Snacks with Character items.
This is great! It will be so nice to have some snack choices other than a choc chip cookie or brownie… 🙂 (GF)
Are these snacks gluten free? It’s hard to see what most of them actually are.
@Tyler – From my understanding, there are a few gluten-free items. Best thing to do would be to read the ingredient panels for a complete listing of ingredients used.
I’ve tried the lemon cookies and they’re very tasty. I was pleasantly surprised. So happy to have more gluten-free options at the Disney parks. Thank you!!
Hi Steven – any chance these new options are artificial color free? We’re excited about this!
@Denise – Glad to hear of your excitement. That’s a great question. Next time you are visiting Disney Parks, I invite you to please refer to the ingredient panels for a complete list of ingredients.
