Are you counting down the days to the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Today we’re happy to share details of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Opening Night Event, a special ticketed event that’s planned for Thursday, December 17 at the Walt Disney World Resort for those who want to be among the first to see the new film and celebrate with fellow fans.

Starting at AMC Disney Springs 24 between 7 and 8 p.m., guests of the Opening Night Event will have a confirmed seat at the first few public showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and then enjoy a private after-hours party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios until 2 a.m. The party will include access to the new Star Wars Launch Bay exhibit, the Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction, and a DJ dance party. The night will be highlighted with the preview of a new fireworks spectacular set to the iconic “Star Wars” score. Event attendees will also get a commemorative souvenir event ticket. Guests of the Event are encouraged to come dressed in costume showing allegiance to the light side or dark side of the Force. Please see the Costume Guidelines in the FAQs.

The newest Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will debut in ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” Monday, October 19, during halftime of the National Football League (NFL) game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. Tune in to ESPN to watch the premiere of the final trailer or join your fellow Star Wars fans at Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA to watch the trailer on a giant screen outside AMC Downtown Disney 12 theatres. The fun begins at 5:00 p.m. counting down to the trailer release.

  • after u check in do have to stay at the theatre or can u leave and come back

  • Will we get to choose our own seats for the movie prior or will we choose seats when we check in day-of?

  • This may be the greatest night of my life. Any chance Areosmith ad/or toy story might get turned on for the night? flying down from Boston for this!

  • Hi. I a bit concerned because disney policy says this

    “Can we come in costume?
Yes, participants are encouraged to attend in costume, provided they follow these guidelines:
Costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to any guidelines determined by AMC and Disney.
Costumes should not be obstructive, offensive or violent; drag on the ground; contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest; contain any weapons or objects which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
At AMC Disney Springs™ 24 Theatres, masks must be carried and can be worn for photos. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios® for this event, masks may be worn, but they must not obstruct vision, and eyes must be visible at all times.
Guests who dress like Disney characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs.”

    And AMC’S policy says this
    “Costume Policy:
AMC does not permit weapons or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience. Guests are welcome to come dressed in costume, but we do not permit masks. In short, bring your lightsaber, turn it off during the movie, and leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home.”

But I called the Disney Springs theater last nigth and they are telling people they are also not allowed to wear Facepaint . Could someone please clarify for us fans?

  • Can those of us attending the event expect any sort of surprises?

  • Do you have any ticket options for active duty military families?

  • Wow, that was an emotional “ROCK’N ROLLER COASTER”. My Fiancé & I were on our computers, tablets, & cell phones, like ravenous wolves @ the ayce breakfast @ Wilderness lodge. 1st we were at the funny splash ob1 & droid page, 1 hr pre game, then like a light switch after 1st quarter, all devices were redirected to AMC web site, we were like this is it!
After a series of picking show times & adding to cart (10-15 times) kept receiving error message…
So the first time we got through, & thought we got tix we were timed out in cart. There site crashed!
2nd time we thought we got through she missed spelled email, Chase kicked back & cancelled, thought it was a fraud charge.
3rd time now… We get all set up, ready to hit submit purchase button, as soon as we hit button, wheel starts to spin on screen… We’re finally good right? NOPE! Site crashed! Again…
So… Crushed, unsuccessful in our quest we start getting ready for bed, then from out of no where I say forget this and try, try, & try again. Site was down NOTHING I COULD DO… Start to shut down computer, when she come in office & shows me the conformation email.
3rd time was the charm, GOT ‘EM ….
    2 for Disney Springs 7:35 3D w/ after party!!!
Was so excited, booked cheap room @ all star resort… after I rebooted my computer of course…
NEVER GIVE UP!!! & always “USE THE FORCE”!!!

  • Hello, is this event sold out? Thank you.

  • I’ll second Glen – Nashville will be well represented, as long as we can make the journey. Gonna be a great night.

  • After about 4 hours last night, using computer, IPad and phone, we were able to score 2 tickets to the event for the 7:55pm showing using my phone, the others kept crashing. Gonna be a long drive from Nashville, but well worth the fun and excitement.

  • I am so incredibly sad that I was unable to get tickets to this, and its my husband’s birthday that day as well. I really hope they open up one more showtime!!!!

  • Because this event is being held at the Dine In theater will we be able to reserve seats like other movies shown at this theater?

  • It ‘looks’ like there are tickets available as there are times but when I click any of the times, nothing happens. Is everything sold out?

  • Thanks for giving us notice about this event! We got our tickets last night (with lots of patience and effort) and we are so excited to be a part of the opening day festivities! Now to plan costumes!

  • I tried for over 4 hours last night to buy tickets to the movie not the event with no luck. It kept saying an error occurred or due to high volume … please try again. So I get up at 5 am and all the shows are sold out for Thursday evening. I cannot afford to buy 6 event tickets and I have already secured fast passes and dining reservations based on being able to see the movie Thursday night.
I needed to vent, why would they release the movie tickets at the same time and same site as the special event?

  • Last night was probably the most stressful and EPIC event of my life! After four hours of trying to score these tickets I was finally able to secure them. I am so excited!!!!

  • hey are the tickets for the event all sold out? x

  • Very disappointed tried to get tickets and site crashed and was very hard to get in. Heard that they were selling earlier than advertised also. We want to attend both the movie and party at DHS.
