Holidays at the Disneyland Resort is underway and this special season brings unforgettable experiences around every corner. Let’s take a look at seven sights to see during the holiday season.
“A Christmas Fantasy” Parade at Disneyland Park
Disney characters join Santa Claus for this holiday tradition, featuring prancing reindeer, marching toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies and more.
Jingle Cruise at Disneyland Park
A shipment of holiday cheer that was supposed to be delivered to the Jungle Cruise skippers has been appropriated by the animals of the jungle, making for a festive seasonal safari!
Disney ¡Viva Navidad! at Disney California Adventure Park
Throughout the season, Paradise Garden at Disney California Adventure park comes alive with this musical and colorful celebration. Experience the sights, sounds and flavors of a special Latin American Christmas celebration at Disney ¡Viva Navidad!
“Paint the Night” Parade and “Disneyland Forever” Fireworks at Disneyland Park
As the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration continues, these new nighttime favorites can be enjoyed throughout the holiday season!
“World of Color” at Disney California Adventure Park
Also continuing through the holiday season is the new “World of Color – Celebrate!” which joins returning favorite, “World of Color – Winter Dreams.” Find out how to secure your spot for the show of your choice here.
Holiday Decor at Disney California Adventure Park
One of my favorite features of the holiday season is the special themed decor at Disney California Adventure park. From the 1920s and ‘30s inspired charm of Buena Vista Street, to the oversized ornaments at “a bugs land” and the personal touches from the residents of Cars Land, there is always something unique to find every time you visit.
Winter Village at Downtown Disney District
Enjoy ice skating or browsing holiday treats and gifts in an Alpine-inspired village? Lace up your skates and join the festive fun in the Downtown Disney District!

I can’t wait till I come next year to see all of this. I have been to Disneyland 6 times and never been there for the Christmas festivities. Being an Aussie, I can’t wait to experience a part of an American Christmas. See you in 2016.
Jingle Cruise is the BEST!! 😀
My wife and I are going to Disneyland in a few weeks to experience Christmas there for the first time! What are we looking forward to? Everything! We can’t wait!
Hi Erin, thanks for the post, these kinds of fluffy ones get me in the holiday mood. And have happy holidays! P.S. Sherry your comment gets me in the mood too!
Hi Erin,
i can’t wait to see it all. i can’t believe the year went so quick this year. you forgot something on the list 9 thing to see the other 2 are haunted mansion holiday and it’s a small world holiday and plus star wars season of the forces so that would be 10 things to see at disneyland
It is no secret to anyone who knows me that the whole holiday season is my favorite time of year in general, and especially at Disneyland Resort (with Halloween Time being next in line). I am a holiday fanatic. Yes, I am one of *those* people who begins to watch Christmas movies at the end of October, listens to Christmas music before Thanksgiving and delights at the sight of Peppermint Wonderland ice cream in the grocery store freezer section in September.
I’ve watched the Holidays at Disneyland Resort evolve and change over the decades (anyone remember Candy Cane Lane at the Disneyland Hotel?), but the most remarkable thing has always been that it is a veritable feast for all of the senses. It is totally immersive, so wherever I go I feel as though I am wrapped up in a giant, cozy, Christmasy blanket of joy. I look forward to all of it:
–Themed decorations (not just in DCA, but in many lands in DL, too, the decorations range from elaborate and intricate to subtle and understated);
–Theme-appropriate versions of familiar Yuletide songs in various locations (for example, a jazz-influenced “Deck the Halls” in New Orleans Square);
–The aromas and flavors of gingerbread, hot chocolate and peppermint;
–The awe-inspiring lights on the It’s a Small World Holiday façade at night;
–The vibrant, jubilant, lively celebration that is Viva Navidad;
–The hustle, bustle and excitement of Downtown Disney; and
–The gingerbread houses at the Grand Californian Hotel (not just in the lobby, but in a couple of the restaurants too).
…And so, so much more. I can’t get enough of the holiday season at DLR. While everyone else is over in Tomorrowland enjoying the Season of the Force fun this year, I will be wandering around the parks taking pictures of the different Christmas trees of all different sizes, and eating a gingerbread cookie with chocolate-dipped mouse ears!
P.S. Please bring back the Winter Castle nest year!! Without its snow-capped turrets and glowing icicle lights shining like a beacon, the holiday season at DLR will be missing a crucial centerpiece. 🙂
Christmas time at Disneyland is my absolute favorite time of the year!! From all the yummy Christmas goodies to the beautiful decorations!! It is a must see for every Disney fan young and old!!
Happiest and merriest time of the year. Can’t wait to check out the sights and sounds on my b-day next weekend. 😀
