Every Role a Starring Role – Disney Ambassador at the Disneyland Resort, a 50-Year Tradition

Disney Ambassadors Allie Kawamoto and Jessica Bernard recently sat down with me to discuss what it’s like to be an Ambassador of the Disneyland Resort, a tradition dating back to 1965. Fifty years later, Allie and Jessica carry forward Walt Disney’s vision of an official representative for the Disneyland Resort and our 29,000 cast members.

Disney Ambassadors are selected among current cast members who apply. I was interested to learn that Allie worked in guest services at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa before helping to manage Carnation Cafe, Refreshment Corner and other locations on Main Street, U.S.A.

Jessica worked as a vocalist at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Most recently, she performed in “Mickey and the Magical Map” at Disneyland park and various special events throughout the resort. Learn more about this “Diamond Duo” in this “Every Role a Starring Role!”

  • As a former cast member, consummate studier of Walt Disney (ever since I can remember), and owner of a fantasy entertainment company myself, this video really meant a lot to me.

If anyone out there wants to be an ambassador for any of the parks, this language used by these cast members, in this video, is spot on for your interview.

Words like “serving others”, and “honor” are, my guess, will go a long way.

While not always publicized (so, I will do it here), Disney gives back to the community in a myriad of ways. Just look up Disney Hand, or Disney Citizenship, and you will see.

It’s work like this that makes me proud to be associated with Disneyland, at the very least, as an annual pass holder.

I look forward to doing business with Disney in the near future.

Everyone – HAVE A MAGICAL DAY!

  • Always love the videos in this series! This must be a highly coveted position to get, I wonder what the interview and selection process is like, I bet it is TOUGH. Kudos to Jessie & Allie. After their Ambassador year-long term is up, do they just go back to being front line cast members?
