Diners at Magic Kingdom Park can soon set off on a culinary adventure at a new eatery in Adventureland featuring “World Famous Jungle Cuisine.” The Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen will open on December 16 at Walt Disney World Resort.
Just steps from the legendary Jungle Cruise attraction you can enjoy the bold, flavorful tastes of Asia, South America and Africa at this new 222-seat table-service restaurant staffed by the wisecracking crew of the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd.
There are three dining destinations within the company’s headquarters-turned-restaurant: Hungry passengers may find themselves in the mess hall or the jungle-inspired parlor once used by the company’s founder, Dr. Albert Falls and his family. Behind the once secret bookcase lies an additional dining room in a former meeting room of the mysterious Society of Explorers and Adventurers.
The Jungle Skipper Canteen touts an adventurous menu with some new and interesting dishes inspired by the exotic flavors of the rivers traveled on the Jungle Cruise. You can try head-on shrimp or sustainable fish collar, or stick with delicious, familiar tastes such as a grilled steak, pork tenderloin or chicken breast.
- House-made arepas with slow-cooked beef, black beans, tostones and queso fresco;
- Dr. Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak, a strip loin marinated in sofrito and served with yuca planks, avocado and house-made chimichurri;
- Rice Noodle Bowl with an Asian pho broth with choice of chicken, duck breast or tofu served with jalapeños and mix of fresh herbs;
- Trader Sam’s Head-on Shrimp, with sustainable, local, farm-raised shrimp tossed in a chili-garlic sauce and served with Chinese broccoli and choice of five-grain or white rice;
- Coconut Bar with Pineapple-Basil Compote and Vanilla Cream – a vanilla chiffon cake with coconut and lime topped with white chocolate ganache;
- Kungaloosh! This African-inspired chocolate cake is served with caramelized bananas and cashew-caramel ice cream topped with coffee dust.
Little ones can try something a little different:
- Junior Skip’s Special Mac and Cheese is inspired by an Egyptian dish with ground beef, pasta, Béchamel Sauce and house-made cheese gratin, served with broccoli;
- Amazon Annie’s House-made Arepas with slow-cooked beef, black beans and queso fresco served with yuca planks;
- Sizzling Savanna Grilled Flank Steak with steamed broccoli and fingerling potatoes;
- Smiley’s Little Croc of Chicken Noodle Soup;
- Kids Volcano! (This gooey chocolate cake with caramel lava and exploding chocolate rocks will make your little one shout “ ‘UH OA!”)
Two non-alcoholic specialties will be served: the Punch Line Punch, with tropical fruit juice and mango puree (also available with a spiced rim for an extra zinger); and the Schweitzer Slush, with frozen apple juice and passion fruit topped with bursting green apple boba balls (legend has it this was first concocted by the noted explorer and humanitarian, Dr. Albert Slush).
The Disney Dining Plan is accepted.

I just saw this…..I have been waiting for ADR’s too….. now open!
This restaurant will not accept ADRs and will be the first table-service restaurant at Disney World to only accept walk-ups.
Do you know when they will have more souvenir mugs? They said that they ran out on the first day???
Any update as far as when we can make reservations?
We’re really looking forward to trying this restaurant in April! The menu looks amazing!
I am so excited to eat here and try those delicious-sounding vegan dishes!
Any word on ADR? I’m hoping will be avaliable on January 15th as that will be 30 days since opening.
Excellent! I’ll be at Magic Kingdom tomorrow and if I like it I’ll make reservations the next time my Sister comes to visit me.
No souvenir cups available yet! Guess they’re still waiting on delivery, no ETA yet.
Was lucky enough to dine here today!They are accepting walk-up reservations only. (I was told by the staff that there are no immediate plans to take reservations.)
We were told the wait was 30 minutes but were seated within 10 minutes. The restaurant was awesome! Food to die for! We had the vegan curried vegetable crew stew, falafel w/ white bean yogurt sauce and lemon bar!
Someone had said the accept Tables in Wonderland, but they do not.
Highly suggest you dine here!
I’m so glad to see some vegetarian options on this menu (not just one, but two!). I was wondering though, are those options just vegetarian or are they vegan also?
The Rice Noodle Bowl with Tofu and Curried Vegetable Crew Stew are both vegan.
I was super excited to try this restaurant. However, along with BOG and LTT, it will not be happening because of the kids’ menu. I have an 11 year old Aspie who is super picky. I don’t understand why the most kid-friendly place in the world (literally!) doesn’t have chicken nuggets or hot dogs on a kids’ menu.
Will the dining plan be accepted?
We ate there today. The cast members are terrific fun! The food is absolutely delicious! Vegans can have fun there!
Is the tables in wonderland card being accepted?
I saw the menu for the Allergen. With Wheat/Gluten free options. Looking forward to trying this out tomorrow!
What a great restaurant! I had the pleasure of dining there Sunday, December 13, and found everything to be so delightful! We had the Punch Line Punch, Schweitzer Slush, Arepas Appetizer, Trader Sam’s Head on Shrimp, Skip’s Mac and Cheese, and Kungaloosh! dessert.
If you have an adventurer’s spirit you will love this! You can take home the souvenir “moscow mule” inspired mugs, and the flavors are just amazing!
We even looked for you, Pam Brandon, because I was hoping to spot you there!
Definitely recommend–my hat is off to the chefs and the Skippers!
“…behind the once secret bookcase lies an additional dining room in a former meeting room of the mysterious Society of Explorers and Adventurers…”
Might one hope to hear the occasional cry of “Kungaloosh!” ring out through the air?
hi christina! no, they are only taking reservations after the 30 day mark. i asked about that because my trip is the end of january. she said to keep an eye on the blogs, they’ll announce when we’re able to make reservations, and then it will be available online! 🙂
Thanks Shonah. Do you know if they will take reservations prior to the 30 day mark if the reservation date is past the 30 day mark? Hope this makes sense. 🙂
Are there gluten free options?
Is this the full menu?
