I believe you can cancel an ADR with no fee AT THE PODIUM. I don’t see it published anywhere, but on our trip last summer we really didn’t want one of our dinners at the last minute and when I went to podium to explain, I was told that there was no charge since I presented myself there. The purpose of the cancellation fee is to prevent the practice of booking a bunch of “just in case” ADRs and not bothering to cancel when not showing up. The only part that surprises me is that it took them so long to finally implement that.
As for Skipper Cantina, you could book a different ADR at the MK, and if you find you *can* get into Skipper Cantina, walk to wherever your ADR is booked and cancel that it in person.
This does not help. I can’t cancel my other ADR on the same day without being charged! I want to be able to make a reservation in advance like every other TS restaurants. I have a trip planned for this time – and I had to decide against Skippers simply because I couldn’t guarantee the reservation in advance. I really want to try the place – but having a TS meal set up at a time that fits in with my FP’s was more important. Now – if I get a reservation same day at Skippers and you let me cancel my other ADR without a fee – THEN I’ll try it.
I know a lot of folks want to be able to plan out everything, but I do prefer a more spontaneous vacation. If there were a way to make both types of folks happy, that would be ideal. If not, I love the idea of day-of reservations. Thanks for that!
Same day isn’t good enough. As Michelle said, Disney makes us book ADRs 180 days in advance & then charges for cancellations. I’m not going to take a chance on not getting into a restaurant with a hungry family, or risk being charged a fee. Sorry.
Hello, what is the process I should use if I would like to dine between March 5-10, 2016?
I keep checking the MDE app and no reservations are available, I wonder now that it may be that there are just none being accepted right now and Skipper Canteen is by walk up only? Desperately want to try the restaurant and not sure what my approach should be.
I tried the phone number 407-933-1933 and it does not work. It says the number is not in service. Will it go in to service the first day, that is, Feb. 12th? Also, a what time each day can you first call in or make the reservation online?
Hi Jorge, the phone line and website will go live on February 12.
What time does the phone line and/or website “open” for each day?
Jungle Skipper Canteen reservations will be ready for booking at 6:00a.m. each morning.
This doesn’t solve the problem. I still will be charged a cancellation fee at another restaurant because it will already be “same day” before I have to cancel if something at Skipper Canteen is available. You can’t make us book all other ADRs in advance and yet leave a space open in our plans for this in the busiest park at Disney. We won’t be going.
Only interested if we can make advanced reservations like we do with other restaurants during WDW trips. We like having this planned ahead of time.
Excellent idea, now if we could just get all restaurants onto this system and FP+ to be day of only, then we can stop planning every single detail of our entire day.
