Last week, my fellow Disney Parks Blog author Jennifer Fickley-Baker shared fun storyline details about the newest neighborhood coming to Disney Springs, Town Center. I also wrote about my undeniable enthusiasm for the retail locations opening soon. This week, Walt Disney World Theme Park Senior Vice President, Jim McPhee conveyed his excitement for the project, confirming the opening of more than 30 new tenant locations by summer’s end. I think it’s clear that everyone here is ready for the debut of Town Center!

Opening in the coming month, the fourth Disney Springs neighborhood will focus on retail but will also offer several new dining options. Among them: Sprinkles Cupcakes with an available-all-day cupcake ATM Machine; Blaze Pizza, offering fast-fire’d custom built artisanal pizzas; Amorette’s Patisserie featuring petit cakes and signature dome cakes that are works of art; D-Luxe Burger with options for burger aficionados and milkshake connoisseurs (ours are made with gelato!); and two that I really can’t wait to try, both by James Beard Award-Winning Chefs … Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine, a farm-to-table concept by Chef Art Smith, and Tablas Frontera, with exquisitely crafted Mexican cuisine by Chef Rick Bayless.

It’s hard to believe, but when Town Center is complete, we’ll have doubled the number of shops, restaurants and other venues for our Disney Springs guests.

With many venues opening in less than a month, May can’t get here soon enough! Which location are you most excited about?

  • I don’t understand why Disney needs to bring in retail stores. Why can’t they just keep it Disney.

  • ‘Cupcake ATM’? I never thought that those two words would ever be in the same sentence, much less next to one another. But now that I’ve read them, they might possibly be the most beautiful phrase in the English language.

  • As passholders, we’re in Disney about once a month and the ONE thing we’re just desperate to see is FRESH KOSHER FOOD. Anywhere. Not airplane meals. Fresh food. It’s literally the only way Disney could improve our experience.

  • We live here, so Disney Springs is a regular and wonderful thing. I see WDW as one of my favorite global cities, and Springs adds a rich array of things to do other than just the parks and resorts. The changes since old Downtown are fantastic and the work underway will give us many more reasons to go out. “Clubbing” and pounding music can stay at That Other Place. ;~)

  • I would be extremely excited if you brought back Hoy Poloi, that was a fantastic shop that was fun and interesting. I along with everyone I mention it to, really misses that place!

  • This will be nice, because everything is always top of the line at Disney…. BUT, I’m very disappointed to see Disney basically just putting in an outdoor mall. I can drive down to a mall in Pittsburgh and go into the same shops (with the exception of a few). My next trip to Disney World is in September, and I don’t think I will be wasting any of my precious time in the Happiest Place on Earth going to Disney Springs.

  • I’m really excited for all the new stores, but I’d really love to see an Apple Store in Disney Springs. I think Apple fits in with so many of the other retailers that are opening stores there.

  • When is STK opening already?! I’ve been waiting for it since last fall!

  • Any idea when Homecoming will begin taking reservations and if they will be part of the dining plan?

  • When can I make reservations for Tablas Frontera? We will be visiting for Memorial Day Weekend!

  • So excited for Blaze pizza! I love that place!

  • Cant wait to try my two favorite chefs restaurants. ??

  • Is the opening date for Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Tablas May 15?

  • Will the dining plan be accepted for any of these venues when they open in less than a month?

  • Super excited about D-luxe burger and all of the new shopping options!

  • What nightspots are there going to be? Lots of shops and restaurants, but what will keep us there in the evenings? HoB and La Nouba on the far west side, but what new attractions?
