Just minutes ago, we shared a sneak peek of what’s coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including new details on the land’s attractions set to bring the world of Toy Story to life for you and your family.
In Toy Story Land, you’ll find yourself shrunk to the size of a toy to explore the world of Andy’s backyard with your favorite Toy Story characters, including Woody and Buzz. There are two new themed attractions being developed for Toy Story Land.
The first – Slinky Dog Dash – will be a family coaster attraction you’ll want to ride again and again. The attraction features a coaster track that Andy has built all over his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit, but as you know, he has a pretty amazing imagination, so he’s combined it with some of his other toys, according to Imagineer Kathy Mangum. Take a look at a concept video of Slinky Dog Dash that Kathy shared earlier.
On Slinky Dog Dash, you will zip, dodge and dash around many turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to his limits.
The second all-new attraction in Toy Story Land will be Alien Swirling Saucers. This attraction is designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first Toy Story film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”
As you rotate around the toy planets and satellites as part of the game, you’ll swirl to the beat of fun “Space Jazz” music developed just for this experience, Mangum said. The music, the lighting, and the sound effects will add to the flurry of your adventure while “The Claw” looms ominously over you.
Also today, Mangum shared an update that beginning Memorial Day weekend, even more guests will be able to experience Toy Story Mania with the addition of a third track.
Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more details on Toy Story Land.

Is there any estimate on when this is opening? We are planning a trip for October 2017… My son would love this (and I would too!!!)! We are huge Toy Story fans!
I assume Pizza Planet is being moved there? I sure hope so! What is the opening date?
Being just a concept video I think it’s fine. Personally I feel there are lots of thrilling rides throughout WDW and this one looks great for those of us that can not do the real roller coasters. For me and our young kids it looks perfect our older ones can do all the others. Not every coaster needs to be over the top. It’s great there is something for everyone in WDW. Looking forward to its opening.
These rides look like so much fun!
I would like to point out that the Slinky Dog coaster is most likely just a very rough computer rendering, and the final version will likely have more detail than what we are seeing in this rough computer mock-up.
This is why Walt Disney Imagineering should stop releasing footage of work-in-progress attractions. In this Internet age that we live in, people are just going to pass judgement without taking into account the fact that what they are seeing is in rough, unfinished form.
I hope the Alien attraction is trackless, it would just be a different version of Mad Tea Party if it wasn’t….
I sincerely hope Disney Imagineers go back to the drawing board with Slinky Dog Dash. Based on the rendering, it looks to be the most mundane, unimaginative ride designed for WDW. As much as I personally want more thrill rides, there are ways to make family-oriented rides appeal to everyone (i.e. everything at MK). This design lacks the Disney touch. For those of you who criticize those who criticize, look around. How does anything improve without people pushing and challenging the status quo? I love Disney as much as anyone, but I don’t settle for mediocrity (and I’d like to think Disney doesn’t either). If comments like mine (and others who clearly share the same opinion) somehow help improve the parks, why wouldn’t we speak up?
I meant to say — if you like it ride it. If you don’t don’t ride it. Sorry for the typo.
The slinky coaster is for families not thrill seekers. The seekers have several extreme coasters to choose from located at different parks. Let Toy Story be for everyone who wants to be there. If you do like it do ride it. I am looking forward to riding it and enjoying it many times over. I love all things Disney.
Not being a big fan of Star Wars, I’m happy to see the addition of Toy Story Land. My son’s job with Disney takes him to the Hong Kong property and from the pics he’s shown me of their T.S. Land, I know the new land at HS will be just as fantastic. The Slinky Coaster looks like lots of fun, despite the negative comments.(it’s just a conceptual video so I know the real thing will be great).
Thanks for sharing.
I don’t know why there are so many negative comments about the slinky dog roller coaster. Clearly this is in the early stages of “imagineering”. Also, the intent is for it to appear as if Andy built it. I’m sure this will be just as amazing as all things Disney. I’m thankful Disney remains so innovative and willing to share new ideas.
The new story land is like the one in Disneyland Paris almost? Or extremely similar… Paris has slinky dog as well
As long as there is a Pizza Planet, I’m in!
Is Alien Swirling Saucers gonna be like Luigi’s flying tires was, where you were on a hovercraft?
Disappointed in the Slinky roller coaster. Pretty generic looking.
Would love to know the opening date! Looking to book out 2016/17 trip, and would love to have this info ahead of time..
Would love to know when this is opening!
CAN’T WAIT!! ????
This slinky dog video is really disappointing. Seems like something that should only be seen internally. The idea of a standard “naked coaster” is not very Disney.
I love the idea of Toy Story Land coming to Hollywood Studios but I am a little disappointed though that the Slinky Dog Coaster looks a so plain. Hopefully its just the video and artwork making it look like this and the real thing will have the Disney details that makes the parks so magical. I love the little details at Disneyland Paris’ Toy Storyland so fingers crossed this will be the same.
When is toys story land officially slated to open?
What is an estimate of opening? Really want to save and bring my grandson and daughter, but would like to see toy story land.
