Soarin’ Around the World Takes Flight at Disney Parks This Summer

Imagine a wind-through-your-hair flight above The Great Wall of China, a bird’s-eye view of the Sydney Harbor in Australia, gliding around the Matterhorn in Switzerland …

These are among more than a dozen breathtaking ways you’ll be able to experience the wonders of the world when Soarin’ Around the World makes its groundbreaking debut across the globe this summer. The next generation of the popular Soarin’ attraction makes its premiere at the grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland this summer as Soaring Over the Horizon.

The next day on June 17, guests at Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort and Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort will be able to board the exhilarating aerial adventure that immerses you in a multi-sensory experience, complete with stunning sights, spectacular sounds and even subtle scents. Fastpass+ will be an option for Soarin’ beginning Thursday, April 21.

Here’s a preview of what you’ll see on Soarin’ Around the World:

Could you feel the mist from the harbor? What a view!

In addition to the new film, the Epcot attraction also added a third theater and reimagined its interactive queue. What destination are you looking forward to flying over in Soarin’ Around the World?

  • I was at California Adventure yesterday and I had no idea they changed it until it started. I have to say I’m not a big fan, we’re in Califonia so as other people have mentioned it should of stayed as Soarin over California. I agree with others posts they should have both playing.

  • I experienced the “New” Soarin on its debut day @ California Adventures. It was pretty cool & the transitions between locations were cool. My favorite parts had to have been the polar bears & elephants. Glad to see that they added the smells back into the experience. I went to Soarin over California in May & the scents were not there. Glad to see Disney update one of their coolest rides but nothing will ever take the place of the original “Soarin over California”

  • Do two seperate films – the old one and the new one. Please! Long time passholder (who attended opening day at DCA) here asking you don’t take away the theme of my favorite ride.

  • Not sure about DL but I know there’s multiple screens at Epcot. It’s conceivable to have two separate tours.

  • So….what am I missing here? I’m an Annual Passholder and can’t schedule FastPass+ beyond 30 days. How are others getting June FP+ already?

  • So sad we will miss it. We will be heading home on the 12th of June. ?

  • I like that it is receiving a new film. The old one was getting … Old. However, I feel like being this is an original California Adventure ride, it should be California themed. I like the idea of each Disney resort (World and Land) having it’s own unique version of the same ride.

  • I AM SO HAPPY!!!! I will be at DL from June 16-22 and I am so glad I’m not gonna miss this!

  • As much as I absolutely love this and have been hoping they would make it around the world since it opened in Epcot, one thing makes me sad.
Why are you changing the California Adventure one? Personally I think it would make a lot of sense to only change the one in Epcot. Soarin’ over California just makes sense for that park because its California Adventure. It showcases some of the beauty of California, i don’t know why you would want to take that away from the park (plus its awesome and I would miss it)
It never really made sense in Epcot though because well.. its in florida, and it has the world showcase which is why i think this new one would work amazing there, whereas the old one seemed almost out of place. give park goers another way to immerse themselves in the experience of each park.
Also i think it would be good to have variety between the parks. It may entice people to visit both Disneyland and Disney World to try both experiences.
Just my thoughts on the matter though. I really do love that they made one for around the world, and I can’t wait to go to Disney again to try it out 🙂

  • I am probably stating what everyone already knows but FP+ are available 60 days out only for folks staying at a Disney resort. They are available 30 days out for all other guests.

  • So frustrating! I have tried 3 different browsers and going in 2 ways. It doesn’t give me the option of going to June. We fly out that afternoon, so if I don’t get in soon for a morning slot it will be pointless. sigh.

  • You can get fastpasses 60 days out I believe. I’ve made mine through June 20. YES I got my Soarin’ ones too.

  • Soarin’ FP are finally available!! Wahoo! Can’t wait. 🙂

  • How do you get a fast pass this far in advance? I didn’t know you could do that.

  • Also got 10:00 AM on the 17th! Leaving the resort later that day. Last day of vacation. So happy!

  • Went back in and yes there were times available. Three for 9:55 on June 17th perfect!

  • After trying literally ALL NIGHT AND ALL DAY, FINALLY got my FP for Soarin’! So excited!!!

  • Got some for 6/17
9:50-10:50. What an awesome way to start our last park day!

  • I was just able to secure a FP for 5 people on June 22. I switched a current FP for another attraction and was given at least 3 options that I could switch to. Good luck to other folks.

  • Try a different web browser. Just booked for the 17th at 10am

  • UPDATE – It’s working now!!! Just made some FP reservations on Soarin!!

  • I just booked my fastpass for Soarin June 17th 10:45-11:45am

  • Are you kidding? We go through the whole morning saying fastpass reservations were unavailable and now they are sold out? Thanks Disney.

  • Did anyone get Fast Pass. Literally checked 10 minutes later and it says no longer available may be standby.

  • Has anyone been able to book fast passes?

  • Everyone, California Adventure is *not* losing its California theme;
Buena Vista Street represents Los Angeles of the 1920s
Hollywood Land is of course, all about Hollywood and movies
Paradise Pier is based on the old Victorian boardwalks that used to be on the California coastline
Cars Land is themed to Route 66, which fits for California Adventure.

I don’t see a problem with the update to Soarin. Updates can be exciting to film attractions. It’s in an airport in Grizzly Peak Airfield, so people can fly to other locations.

  • I’ve tried to do fast pass for June 17 th saying not set up yet thought we were supposed to be able to make today?

  • I’m looking forward to this new film, but know I will miss the original – it’s such a part of DCA. My daughter-in-law opened that attraction.
And I’m hoping they’ve kept the original ending….as I love seeing my hubby in the film footage (yes he made the cut and it was such a surprise when we viewed it the first time at the cast preview.).

  • This is getting frustrating because I erased 2 park day FP trying to switch things around for this. We visit Disney twice a year since we are DVC members, I’m just about ready to say forget it and we will ride it on the next trip. This is giving me flash backs to the ROL announcement. What’s going to be the next disappointment!

  • ‘Fastpass+ will be an option for Soarin’ beginning Thursday, April 21’

    Nope. None available.
