Today, we’re thrilled to announce that in exactly one week, you’ll be able to experience the magic of nature on display at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at night – for the first time ever. Beginning May 27, the park will awaken at night with new rich experiences under the stars and one day later, on May 28, The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic live show will debut at the park.

Tree of Life

If you’re a regular Disney Parks Blog reader, then you know there’s an exciting lineup of new experiences coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom after the sun sets, including nightly awakenings of the park’s iconic Tree of Life. Beginning May 27, animal spirits will be brought to life each night by magical fireflies that reveal colorful stories of wonder and enchantment along with other amazing sights at the tree.

After the sun sets, you’ll also be able to explore Kilimanjaro Safaris and see the nighttime behavior of the wildlife and better tune into the unique vocalization of the animals like never before. Among the new experiences, the village of Harambe in Africa will become the place to enjoy “Wildlife Parti” and the spirited community of Discovery Island will come together to celebrate their love of the natural world with the Discovery Island Carnivale.

And the park’s Discovery River will awaken at night and become a stunning stage for performances of the limited-engagement show The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic, inspired by the hit live-action film Disney’s The Jungle Book. Shows will feature memorable moments from the film, including the iconic Shere Khan, and will be filled with music and special effects that celebrate the movie and classic songs, infused with an Indian influence.

FastPass+ and dining packages for Disney’s Animal Kingdom night experiences will become available beginning tomorrow, May 21.

  • Excellent!! How far out can the Jungle Book dining packages be booked for? Will they open up tomorrow for May 27 through August?? For the full 180 days ahead as other dining reservations?

  • Will Animal Kingdom only be open late during the summer? I’m coming in September and it’s showing the park closing at 5pm.

  • Exciting news! What are the dining package offerings for this?

  • Fast passes available at 7am then?

  • When will we be able to place ADR for Tiffins?

    • May 21 is first day. Thanks, Kathy.

  • Just saw the paragraph that indicates that we’ll be able to do this starting tomorrow, 5/21. Will there be dinning and preferred seating packages?

  • Will evening FP+ selections be available for July?

  • What will the new park hours be at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

  • I realize The Jungle Book: Alive With Magic is a limited release. Will dining packages only be released through a certain date?

  • By FastPasses being available tomorrow, does that mean the Disney website will have actual times of the Jungle Book show, or even a dedicated page for it? And will the night time street shows be scheduled past Memorial Day weekend?

    • Hi Michael, yes – the site will have times for the show. And you’re correct that the shows will be scheduled beyond Memorial Day Weekend.

  • Weeks ago it was announced that the Jungle Book show was to begin on May 27. I have waited and waited for today to make my reservations for it only to find out the show doesn’t start until May 28. So frustrated as we leave May 28.

  • If we already have a breakfast reservation at Tusker house, will we be able to modify it to include the Jungle Book Dining package?

    • Yes.

  • Do we know show times? And do we have any information on dining packages?

  • Are there specified times for each of these events? Particularly the Tree of Life show and the Jungle Book show? Thank you!

    • The nightly awakenings of the Tree of Life will happen throughout the night at varying times – no set schedule. And The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic show will be at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. during its limited time engagement. Thanks, Tony.

  • What time does the show start?

  • Will the late hours still continue through December? We really hope we can experience all the extra fun during our family trip later this year!

  • It’s exciting to see the new experiences finally coming to fruition but bittersweet as my trip happened around the original dates in April that were communicated and cancelled. All the new experiences look fantastic and I hop RoL gets sorted out and added to the mix. I sympathize with all the ‘planners’ who still wait for details to complete their trips.

  • Can we use 1 of our Disney Dining table service meals for this dining package? Or will we have to use 2? Thanks!

    • Hi Gwen, the Dining Package is one table-service credit at Tusker House Restaurant, two table-service credits at Tiffins.

  • We are going in mid December. Will the Jungle book and nighttime park hours be going on then?
I’m really excited about these changes. AK is my favorite park and I always hated leaving so early

  • We’re will be there end of September/beg October, will this still be running at that time?

  • why do people keep asking questions when they know they’re not answered now, lol

  • When will later dates be made available, like Oct and Nov?

  • Are the Jungle Book dining packages included in the Disney Dining Plan? I thought I read that the Tusker House package would be 1 credit and Tiffins would be 2 credits (similar to Fantasmic dining packages.) I booked the Jungle Book lunch dining package at Tusker House today and noticed that my email confirmation states, “This restaurant does not participate in a Disney Dining Plan.” Is this accurate?

  • Per the Disney Website Chat:
The dining experience would be under the Disney Dining Plan. Tiffins is 2 table-service credits and Tusker House is 1.

  • Disappointed that Flametree BBQ is not an option for the dining package at this time. Will it be added in the future?

  • Any idea what time the show will start? I’ll be heading out there after work. Also, is the 27th still accurate? Because I just checked the park hours and it’s still says 6pm.

  • Looking forward to this show when we return in April

  • People ask because they are excited. We just want to know so much. I am hoping that hey will have the park open in Sept

Also-is the dinner show similar to Fantasmatic. You get VIP if u have dinner at participating restaurant? Or do u get to watch the show while having dinner??

  • On my birthday!

  • When will dates open up past 9/5?? Not sure if I want to get an adr at Tusker house or fastpass it instead 🙂

  • Everthing on here say Tusker house is 1 credit but the Disney wesite says it is 2

  • On the Disney website its says Tusker house is 2 credits

  • Any news on the River of Light show? Also, I thought I read somewhere that you can walk from the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Animal Kingdom park in about 10 minutes. Is this true?

  • I was wondering if the night time spectacular will be around during the end of October, I’m unable to find times and I want to know because I might be extending my trip. Please let me know! Thank you!!!
