I can’t wait to visit the Florida Keys and check it off my Florida bucket list someday, but I know I’ve found the next best thing to actually going there at Disney’s Old Key West Resort.

This sprawling Disney Vacation Club resort is tucked away near Disney Springs and transports guests to a tranquil setting surrounded by laid back waterways, sunny pools, palm trees, and even golf-course fairways perfect for a relaxing getaway.

I peeked into room 1828, a one-bedroom villa that overlooks the pristine Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.

This villa has one king bed in a bedroom attached to the spacious bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi tub, and one queen-size sleeper sofa as well as one twin-size sleeper chair. There are all the comforts of home with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table, and more.

The industrial-style lamp above the dining room table gives a nod to the resort’s community called Conch Flats. You also have your own balcony with a patio table and chairs to relax at and take in the sights.

There are plenty of conch shell accents—a popular symbol in the Florida Keys–and a beautiful framed map highlighting the string of tropical islands. There’s also a hidden Mickey detail you don’t want to miss in the adorable beach chair lamp.

Enjoy the view, and I hope it inspires you to take it easy and be on island time today!

  • The area loop at that resort is phenomenal!

  • Our favourite DVC resort, it’s beautiful

  • We’re checking in next week with three generations for our son’s High School Graduation celebration! We can hardly wait!! LOVE Old Key West!

    • That sounds like such a fun celebration, Jackie, congratulations and have a great time during your stay here!

  • This is our FAVORITE DVC resort – biggest one-bedroom in the park. The bathroom is practically palatial – And that patio!

  • Absolutely agree with all of the other comments. I got a peek at a 2 bedroom lock off when I was there last fall and decided that it would be the spot for my husband and I the next time we planned a visit. Stayed in the 1 bedroom in February and it was exactly as Allison describes. My husband had not seen the layout at OKW and when he walked in the door, he said “Wow! We could live here!”
The resort itself is lovely and if you enjoy walking, it connects back to Saratoga and Disney Springs. Be sure to put it on your list of resorts to stay at. It leaves you wanting to return.

  • The first and still the best DVC property.

  • OKW has been our home resort since 1994 when our older daughter was just a baby. We love when the guard greets us at the gate with a hearty “Welcome home!” as Old Key West is truly our second home. We have sampled other DVC resorts, but hard to beat for its spaciousness, light festive decor & beautiful grounds. Checking in tomorrow!

    • Thank you for sharing those great memories of Old Key West, Nancy! Enjoy your next stay and “Welcome Home” again!

  • Staying there next month . This will be our first stay at OKW . We are really looking forward to trying it out. Our home is AKL , so we will see how they match up to one another.

  • Just returned from a 7 night stay with 11 of my closest relatives! The 3 Bedroom Grand Villa was awesome! With 10 adults and 2 children we had tons of living, eating and having fun space! Thank you OKW for a family reunion we will never soon forget 🙂

  • Old Key West is one of my family’s favorite resorts. We love the laid back vibe that you get – perfect for a little rest and relaxation after a long day at the parks!!

  • Has OKW had a recent update? The photos shown look like different décor to the ones I have seen, everything looks new and fresh. If they have is it completed or is it only certain units?

  • We will be checking-in to a two bedroom DVC villa this Saturday! Bringing my husband’s family for their first trip to Disney to celebrate his sisters’ college graduation! Excited to try a new resort, I’ve tended to frequent Beach Club Resort and have also had a great experience at Animal Kingdom Lodge in the past. Curious to see how this resort compares to those and all the others I’ve stayed at.

  • Having read this I would love this room 1828 ,is there anywhere that shows you a plan of the room numbers etc so I can request a room in a certain area?
