From a new live stage show to all-new attractions, there’s so much to do at the Disneyland Resort this summer! Here are ten experiences you won’t want to miss.

Ten Experiences You Can’t Miss at the Disneyland Resort this Summer

  1. The new “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” immerses Disney California Adventure park guests in the emotional story of Anna and Elsa in an exciting theatrical interpretation for the stage, including elaborate costumes and sets, stunning special effects, show-stopping production numbers and some unique surprises.

  1. Take flight on an all-new adventure to exciting destinations when Soarin’ Around the World opens at Disney California Adventure park beginning June 17.

Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters’ at Disney California Adventure Park

  1. The fun-filled Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, new in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park, is rolling with fun as Luigi’s cugini have come from Carsoli, Italy, to help celebrate Race Day in Radiator Springs. Park guests join in the fun by hopping aboard miniature Italian roadsters, in the style of late 1950s micro cars. The cars perform the traditional dances of their village, moving to upbeat music and Luigi’s singing in a precision-choreographed dance across a trackless “dance floor.”

Ten Experiences You Can’t Miss at the Disneyland Resort this Summer

  1. In Tomorrowland at Disneyland park, Star Wars Launch Bay invites guests to discover authentic replicas of film props and encounter Star Wars characters such as Chewbacca and Kylo Ren.
  2. The Star Wars-themed transformation of Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain thrusts guests into an X-wing battle as they race through the darkness. The experience is enhanced by a new soundtrack, inspired by the Star Wars films’ musical themes and re-orchestrated to match every move in the attraction.
  3. At Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, guests encounter a new adventure and characters from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” while journeying aboard a Starspeeder 1000.
  4. Don’t miss your chance to see the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration dazzle and shine before the celebration ends September 5, 2016.

Ten Experiences You Can’t Miss at the Disneyland Resort this Summer

  1. The sparkling “Paint the Night” parade builds on the tradition of breathtaking nighttime parades in Disneyland park that began with the “Main Street Electrical Parade.” Illuminated almost entirely by LED lights, “Paint the Night” is a state-of-the art, vibrant wonder that immerses guests in the magical, luminescent worlds of many Disney and Disney●Pixar characters.

Ten Experiences You Can’t Miss at the Disneyland Resort this Summer

  1. The “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular entertains guests from the tips of their toes to the sky high above, surrounding the audience with music, dazzling visual projections and other special effects that bring the pyrotechnics to life in surprising new ways. Guests may enjoy the projections from multiple locations, including Main Street, U.S.A., and “it’s a small world” mall.
  2. At Disney California Adventure park, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” is a fun-filled version of the popular, nighttime “World of Color” spectacular. Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris joins Mickey Mouse on a magical water canvas, bringing to life the remarkable story of Walt Disney and The Happiest Place on Earth with animated imagery, live-action film, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score.

What are you most excited to do at the Disneyland Resort this summer? Tell us in the comments!

  • Check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, and CHECK! Did them all – most many times over. One last trip for the finale weekend then, what shall I do this fall? Hmmm.

  • Celebrated my 60th bday in the midst of the Magic! World of Color dessert party put up front and center for everything. We also used the Alladin’s Oasis dinner package for beginning of the pareade spaces for Paint the Night. Great castmembers all around the park. Look for the leprechaun house. It is great to see more characters in more locations. Dr. Facilier was fantastic!

  • I think you’ll have to go to Magic Kingdom to see the Main Street Electrical Parade. I love it and can’t get enough of it!

  • I would also love to see the Main Street Electric Parade. It was my favorite. Any chance it will come back to Disneyland?

  • Luigi’s cousins at Luigi’s Rollicking Roadsters was the best! I could not stop laughing as we did the Mamba in sync with the other ‘cousins’. I tried to get into the Frozen show at the Hyperion, but the Fastpasses were gone in seconds. I am obsessed with the ‘Paint the Night’ parade. I also saw the World of Color show and the Star Wars Launch Bay. I just did not get to Soaring over the World, but I have an annual passport so I will be back!

  • I look forward to all the new attractions but mostly I look forward to Frozen, Star Wars and Luigis in Cars land. I love, love, love the fireworks and parade!

  • I would like to see the Main Street Electrical Parade come back to Disneyland.

  • My favorite rides are Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It’s A Small World. I would really like to see Disney leave Disneyland as it was. All the new attractions, like Star Wars, should be in California Adventure.

  • Bring back MAD T!

  • Taking my daughter beginning of September for the 1st time (both of us). Can’t wait!

  • ?Sept… 4 generations will enter the world of Disney!!! One in a wheel chair , one in a stroller & everything in between. Cain’t wait…✨ Dreams do come true!⭐️

  • Looking forward to doing ALL of them. Taking our Granddaughter to Disneyland for the 1st time. Celebrating the 60th Anniversary. SO Excited !!

  • I just can’t wait to be there! It has been awhile <3

  • Considering how packed the park is in the summer, I think we will wait until the fall to go. Hopefully the crowds will thin out after September 5th

  • These are all great ideas, Erin! We just got back from a few days at the Disneyland Resort and got to experience some of these things. We just didn’t have time to see them all! Paint the Night was really amazing. Star Tours never disappoints and the park is festooned with diamonds and other items to celebrate the 60th. A must see!

  • WOC was weak. Less NPH, and more clips from current movies. The version we saw 2 years ago was spectacular.
Paint the Night was awesome. Get to Small World around 8:30 and you will have front row spots (you can remain seated) without paying for spot across the sidewalk.

  • Will the paint the night parade be the same after the 60th celebration is over?

  • Never been to Disneyland. We usually hit WDW about every other year. However, next year we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary and are doing it at Disneyland. Can’t wait!!!

  • @Jana – I was under the impression that Season of the Force was only temporary too…but lately I’ve been hearing that it might be here until Star Wars Land is open.

  • I was under the impression that hyperspace mountain would be going away with season of the force; has it been extended? or is it now a permanent change?

  • In my top ten would be the Disneyland All-American College Band. They only perform during the summer and they are terrific! Looking forward to their debut on 6/16!

  • Will World of Color finally go back to normal (or something new) when the 60th ends in September?

  • Saw Paint the Night last November and have to echo the love–amazing parade! And I can’t wait to see Frozen and the new Soarin’ when I come back next October! Hopefully DL will be following in WDW’s footsteps and releasing their Halloween dates soon so I can make some reservations…;)

  • …Also, I have to say that I really love Paint the Night and the new fireworks! World of Color is very cool too!

  • All of these things are really exiting. I’m looking forward to the new Soarin.
Also, I have seen the new Frozen show, and it is great! Lots of unexpected theatrical effects. It’s a great interpretation of the film. 🙂

  • Hi Erin, thanks for the post, what a great read, gets you excited for DLR!

Paint the Night is definitely a fave of ours, pictures just can’t do that show justice. And even though we haven’t yet seen the new Soarin’, I’m sure that will be a favorite as well since I hear the soundtrack is similar to/an enhanced version of the old soundtrack, looking forward to that when we go for the Holidays. As for the new Frozen show, don’t know if I can watch it– it’s still too soon since Aladdin’s show closed up shop that I’m not over it yet!

Btw, are you guys still doing the Storytelling series on the DPB? Those are great, among the very best series on the Blog. Thanks!

  • Will the 60th Anniversary Fireworks and Parade continue after September 5? or has that not been decided yet? I really hope that those two nighttime experiences will get to stay because they are spectacular!!
