To celebrate the recent grand opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, we’ve been taking you on a tour through the six themed lands of Shanghai Disneyland. Today our tour ends with a blast – in Tomorrowland! With imaginative design and cutting-edge technology, Tomorrowland celebrates the hope, optimism and potential of the future – themes from the original Disneyland – now for a whole new culture.
With the world debut of TRON Lightcycle Power Run, guests will board two-wheeled Lightcycles to launch across a canopied section of track – the Upload Conduit – before diving high-speed into a mysterious game world of lights, projection and sound effects.
On Jet Packs, guests will become sky pilots, taking off on transportation of the future. Strapped into individual Jet Packs and with legs dangling, pilots will enjoy the thrill and wonder of flying. From their sky-high vantage point, pilots will have a breathtaking view of Tomorrowland and the rest of Shanghai Disneyland.

Tron and jet packs ! And why didn’t we get this in Disneyworld? Sounds spectacular!
Only 2 attractions in TL? Doesn’t look like an area that would hold people’s interest for more than an hour depending on wait times. WDI should have used this opportunity to explore a re-creation of Walt’s hopes for this iconic land to install at a future date at DL Park.
The TRON ride IS spectacular! Throughout the entire structure leading up to the ride, you experience the music and environment of the TRON Legacy movie – especially in the room where you enter the ride. After leaning onto the TRON bikes (yes, you ride on your stomach!!) and getting secured, the ride starts and takes you outside then back in – all while experienceing the environment of TRON. It’s awesome.
Jet packs were also a lot of fun and the Stitch ride was great (even though I’m terrible at shooter games), but I’d have to say watching little kids exercise with Big Hero 6’s Hiro and Baymax was adorable and the Star Wars exhibit was outstanding (especially or a big nerd like me).
Although the Shanghai Disneyland park is smaller and thus Tomorrowland has fewer attractions, what it does offer is great. The Tomorrowland area definitely reflects a modern idea on the future (more like what you’d see in the movie of the same name) rather than the retro, quirky, fanciful Tomorrowland we enjoy in WDW and Disneyland alike. It’s an experience all its own.
We have watched the videos and as fans of TRON why isn’t this ride in California Adventure? Disneyland Anaheim has always been the main hub for all Disney rides. TRON would be a perfect addition to go right behind the new Galaxy of the Guardians ride (Tower of Terror). California NEEDS another adult themed ride and TRON is PERFECTION!
