FIRST LOOK: 2016 Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House at Disneyland Park

Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort is just around the corner, and I’ve got your first look at this year’s Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house. Gingerbread houses have graced the ballroom scene of Haunted Mansion Holiday for the past 15 years, and this year’s creation consists of:

  • 200 pounds gingerbread
  • 200 pounds powdered sugar
  • 4 gallons egg whites
  • 1 gallon lemon juice
  • 50 pounds fondant
  • 1/3 pound glitter

As you can see, the house is inspired by one of our favorite Halloween Town residents, Sally, from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

“The whole structure has been cobbled and stitched together from other different gingerbread houses and treats,” says Tim Wollweber, Associate Art Director for Disney Parks, who designed this year’s house. “But it appears that sometime during the house’s construction, a gingerbread ghoul was entombed! Apparently he’s eager to sew himself up inside – much like another mansion graveyard ghoul you’ve probably seen.”

Are you excited to see the finished masterpiece? Be sure to keep an eye out for this creepy confection in Haunted Mansion Holiday!

  • Experienced it on October 3rd 2016! Super spooktacular!!

  • love when the mansion is done over as haunted mansion holiday…it could stay like this all year and i’d be happy! can’t wait to see the newest gingerbread house! ºoº 17 days for me…can’t wait!!!

  • We are arriving on the 8th of September, please tell me that one of the dining locations picked up the Fall Sugar Cookie with Pumpkin Ice Cream and homemade caramel sauce is going to be served! We had that at Thunder Ranch last year and it was to die for 🙂

  • Pat….haha you’re kidding right? Nightmare is a Halloween movie and Christmas movie combined. I mean, it’s literally about a Halloween town that takes over Christmas. In my opinion, it is more Halloween then it is Christmas, which is why Disney puts it up mid-Sept thru Dec. it’s so breathtakingly Halloween in the ride, I can’t see how you see only Christmas.

  • Will there ever be a Halloween when we can go to Disneyland and experience the normal Haunted Mansion? The Nightmare redress is excellent, but it’s also Christmas themed and can wait. More importantly, at no time of the year is the original Haunted Mansion more appropriate. I think it’s very sad that I can’t celebrate Halloween anymore with my favorite Happy Haunts and hitch-hiking ghosts.

  • Haunted Mansion Holiday is the BEST part of the holiday season! The gingerbread house looks awesome!

Now if we can just have Space Mountain back, this will be a fantastic Disneyland December!

  • Looks cool, as usual. I love the gingerbread houses. My favorite one was the house that showed the Mansion as a monster with a mouth that opened and closed. Remember that one?

Did you eat the gingerbread or did the gingerbread eat you? ?

  • Where will the gingerbread house be located? Photo op I presume?!?

    • You’ll be able to see the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene of Haunted Mansion Holiday!

  • Looks fabulous! When will HM open up for the Halloween season?

    • Haunted Mansion Holiday will open when Halloween Time begins on September 9.

  • I wish they would put Sparky’s (Frankenweenie) grave back in the HM graveyard for Haunted Mansion Holiday.

  • I’m always amazed at the artistry my brother creates. Keep up the awesome work, Tim! We’ll see you and the family down south for the holidays!!!

  • So excited!! We are going to be at Disneyland for the Holidays! We love Disneyland!!

  • Just returned from Disneyland today. So sad the HM was closed. But I love the Halloween time HM almost as much as original….almost. I have a AP so just counting the days until the HM reopen!
And btw, it was another perfect day at Disneyland and DCA.

  • I affectionately call this annual masterpiece the Haunted Mansion Holiday’s GingerDREAD House.

  • Sally is my FAV Nightmare B4 Christmas character, so this is my Dream come true!!! I’m also hoping to see her as a bigger part of the attraction this year!! Last year we saw the addition of her basket & yarn in the graveyard, and I’ve been hoping that was a little tease from the Imagineers °o°

  • I second the question above a few years back they did a LE pin release and artist signing really wish it would become an annual item!

  • Looks amazing might have to have me a little visit x

  • I almost can’t believe I ACTUALLY get to see it this year!!! I’ve been dreaming of this for yearssss. Disneyland in 21 days! *muah*

    • I hope you have a fa-boo-lous visit! 🙂

  • Very nice!

  • This is one of the best pieces that I have seen. Love it! Can’t wait to see and smell it soon.

    • 😀

  • Will there be a LE pin released to showcase the 2016 HMH gingerbread house?

    • There will not be a pin for the 2016 Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread display, but keep watching the Disney Parks Blog for a story from Steven Miller about Haunted Mansion Holiday merchandise (including pins).
