The Main Street Electrical Parade, Magic Kingdom Park’s long-running nighttime parade, will officially end its historic run at Walt Disney World Resort on October 9 and then head to Disneyland Resort for a limited-time encore engagement. We wanted you to be among the first to know while there’s still time to plan a trip to Walt Disney World Resort to enjoy the magic and nostalgia of the parade one last time.

Main Street Electrical Parade is a nighttime procession filled with glowing, spinning floats that honor favorite Disney characters. Animated Disney films that are represented include “Alice In Wonderland,” “Cinderella” and more. During the parade, Tinker Bell lights the way with a wave of her wand and orchestrates half a million shimmering lights synchronized to a memorable soundtrack.
If you’re planning to visit the Walt Disney World Resort for our fall experiences and see the parade one last time at Magic Kingdom Park before it ends its run, please keep in mind that Main Street Electrical Parade is not offered on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights. Check for the latest parade dates and times here on WaltDisneyWorld.com or in the My Disney Experience app.
Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for updates on entertainment experiences at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Was there in July and oddly enough I actually noticed some of the floats with burned out lights and found this odd. So sad my grandchildren will miss this parade in November but know Disney will come thru with a Plan B. just as wonderful.
I can’t believe it ..I have been going to WDW since I was 3 years old. I now bring my own kids and we all love to sit and watch that parade. It’s always part of our trip. This is such sad news. I just love the nostalgia of the parade. While so many things have changed and/or been updated, I always had the parade to bring me back to my childhood days of our family Disney Vacation.
Booooo to Disney. I have 5 things on the top of my list for each visit. They already did away with Off Kilter at Epcot so i had to remove that from my list, now this?!?! Come on decision makers, stop taking all the good things away that draw me to come back each year. Very very disappointed.
My initial reaction to this news was excitement at the prospect of a new parade, but that was quickly replaced by extreme disappointment when I realized there is no replacement nighttime parade slated to take the place of MSEP when it ends. Why would the busy holiday season be the right time to remove another entertainment offering in WDW? We will be there the last week of November and I’m so sad that my 1 year old won’t get to experience the magic of a Disney nighttime parade like his big brother did on his prior trips. We already have plans to watch the parade at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an extra Festival of Fantasy parade in the evenings due to this change, but neither can fill the void of the MSEP. I’m happy the folks visiting Disneyland will get to enjoy the MSEP once more, but why not wait until there is a replacement lined up and ready to go in WDW before making the move to the west coast? 🙁
Nooooooooo we will be there in November and we are bringing friends who have never been to WDW, I was so excited to bring them to this parade. =( I’m so sad. The main street electrical is one of my favorite parts of visiting WDW. It will be missed!
I actually got a little anxiety when I read this. So sad. We can’t make it there before the end of the run. Our typical WDW visit has been in mid-October, so I’m really glad I am not going this year to only miss this parade by 10 days!
I second the motion to bring back Spectromagic. That is the first parade I remember seeing at the Magic Kingdom (back when there was only the MK!).
When will we find out what the replacement will be at WDW? Going in November – would love to know…as I’m sure others would, too.
I can’t fathom that there would be no parade to replace it – why be coy and not announce it?
This cannot be true, our family has always loved this parade as its one of the main attractions we look forward to every single year. Please reconsider. 🙁
We will be taking our children and grandchildren to Disney World next summer. I don’t have the heart to tell them that the electric parade is gone. So sad.
What I want to know is: What will be replacing the MSEP? Are we getting Paint the Night, a re-imagining of SpectroMagic, or are they working on a brand new parade to cap-off the 45th? I hope it’s either Paint the Night or a new parade and that we get the new show quickly, as the nighttime parade has become a favorite trip-must do in our house. 🙂
I am so sad about the Electrical Parade it is one of my favorite things at Disney. One consolation is that I will be there to see the last showing. Any idea what will replace it?
Any idea on when and how long it will be at DLR? Going in Jan
NO! This is so upsetting. I am literally going to be there a week too late : ( I love this parade! It is classic Disney at its best. I do enjoy new things, but there is something to be said for keeping elements of history and tribute to the park. I hope they don’t replace it with paint the night…it has some nice effects, but just doesn’t capture the spirit of Disney the way this parade does.
My first two visits as a child were highlighted by this parade, and I’m happy my own kids were able to see it a few years ago as well. Between, however, the parade had left…but came back. So while I’m sad it’s leaving to go to Disneyland and probably somewhere else for now, I’m confident it will eventually return to the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World some day. Do not despair!
Please extend to November 5th! We’ve been waiting till’ last year for our family holiday of a lifetime which we have saved up for ages, Please extend till’ November 5th ,or replace it with something equally magical. Thanks ? x
BOO!!! This is my all time FAVORITE nighttime parade at WDW and I don’t want it going away AGAIN. Not fair!!! We love this parade on the east coast just as much as anyone on the west coast could and we should be allowed to keep it. Disney has plenty of money to have two Main Street Electrical Parades, one for the east coast and one for the west! WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SHARE!!! Keep it at WDW!
I enjoyed this parade for the first time when I was 17 in 1990 when my high school came to Disney for our senior trip. On our last trip in February this year we didn’t think we’d watch the parade but while I was shopping at the Emporium it started so my daughter went and watched it with my husband. I’m glad she got to see it one last time.
This makes me so incredibly sad! We have a trip mid-November, and I wanted to share this magical experience with my soon to be 5 year old son! I grew up going to Disneyland, and remember seeing the electric parade around his age. I was looking forward to seeing the magic in his eyes during this experience together. What will be in its place?
Oh No !!!!!! I have waited years for my youngest granddaughter to reach 10 so we could all enjoy this! We are going Feb 25th 2017! There are 10 of us and all I talk about is the parade! Last time I waited in place for 2 hours so I had a great spot!! The first time I saw it I was 42 and I cried I loved it so. Please don’t stop the parade-change some if you must but keep a parade:)
Oh no! This is tradition! It can always be updated – please keep it going!
So exciting to hear!!! So looking forward to all the wonderful new things and experiences coming to the parks! I’ll now be anxiously awaiting to here what’s coming next to replace it.
I am really bummed to hear this news I have seen this parade many times over the years and the beautiful lights and colors are a great magical way to end the night. It will be so disappointing to see it go away. 🙁 🙁 🙁
I do hope that we are no without a nighttime parade for too long. Prices go up and key elements of the disney magic are removed.
The parade is a disney classic, and a break is welcome so we can get something more relevant, but that should start on 10th OCT!
Please bring back Spectromagic Parade!!!! Please please please!!!
I am beyond sad at this news!!! This is my favorite parade EVER!! Childhood memories that I was able to share with my own children. :/
Oh this is so sad! I love this parade. We arrive on October 9 and may have to adjust our plans so we can see it one more time before it goes.
My family has a trip planned for late Nov, bringing Granddaughter’s (ages 4 & 1) for their 1st trip. My husband & I were sooooo excited for them to see this magical parade. We are still trying to process them missing the Osborne lights, now this too! I understand that things need to change, to keep it fresh, but now, you’re tugging at our heartstrings! Trying to make it absolutely memorable for our lil princesses… please Disney, reconsider. Wave that wand & sprinkle that pixie dust & make our Christmas wish come true.
When will it start at Disneyland? And will it be in Disneyland or California Adventure like last time it visited home? We have a trip booked in October and I would LOVE to see it as I understand Paint the Night is ending soon.
I’m so upset this is being taken out. It is one of the things that we look forward to-it is tradition. Their prices have gone up, so they better come up with something fantastic.
This is very sad I’m taking my daughter in 2017 for her birthday to Disney world and was really hoping to see the night parade please bring it back next year
This news has absolutely devastated me! I visit Disney World twice a year, and this is always what I look forward to most :'(. We are literally going 2 weeks after this ends and had plans to see it. Two months is hardly considerate notice for people who want to plan to go see it one last time. You could have at least finished out the year. Not a happy Disney fan right now.
This is sad. Maybe this means we will see Paint the Night? One can hope? I just hate planning trips for clients. Hopefully you will bring more for this years MNNSHP.
One of the things I dreamed of doing was to bring my kids to see this parade. That’s not going to happen now and I am really sad. This was my favorite parade at WDW. I want to go cry now.
Very sad to see the Main Street Electrical Parade leave WDW. We are visiting in December for 12 nights and hoping very much that there will be a night parade in Magic Kingdom for me to bring my little ones to.
While I am sad the parade is leaving I would like to know that will be taking it’s place if anything. I wish Disney would tell us so we can plan ahead.
Please Reconsider Disney… if it aint broke then don’t fix it…. this is a beautiful parade please keep it.
So so very sad 🙁
We only got to hear the music this summer as we were starving at 11PM and were eating!
So So Very Sad!!!
Why?….
We have reservations for the Tony’s Town Square Main Street Electrical Parade Dining Package for December 7th! What happens with that?
NOOOOO! We love that parade – what will replace it?!?!
Gina S. – That was originally Disneyland’s parade. It would be more of a “its going home” and WDW needs to get its own parade.
I’m super excited for MSEP to be heading back to DLR… Talk about memories.
Paint the Night is such a gorgeous parade, especially the music towards the end is such a great twist on a piece of nostalgia. Its hard to see it go.. I do hope they keep it here in the States where we can enjoy it after its run at DLR 🙂
We will be coming there the week after this ends. Too bad it will not be there until the end of the month.
Nooooo! don’t take the electricial parade away!!!! It was truly magicial. We have enjoyed the parade for many years. The electricial parade was one thing that was always talked about around our family table that “magical parade”. No other parade compares. Disney World will not be the same. Ending our magicial day with the most magicial parade and fireworks following was a memory never forgotten. Create Disneylands own electricial parade.
I’m really going to miss this parade,It was always one of our favorite things to see. Are we going to see a new parade take it’s place? Watching a parade in the Magic Kingdom was always special and was just that extra touch of “Magic” at nightime.
Voting for paint the night! ..its time for switch!!!
Please bring the Paint the Night Parade to WDW! That’s AWESOME!
So how soon after Oct 9 will the MSEP be running at DLR?
its even on the News!
I am sooooo upset! This is my favorite part of going and our trip is scheduled for February! It makes me want to cancel. I at least want my youngest to see it as a child like I did. So disappointed!!!
whats gonna come to wdw when it leaves?
Please bring WDW something awesome to take it’s place!
