In this week’s “Fabulous 45th” series, we focused on the Haunted Mansion, one of Magic Kingdom Park’s opening day attractions. I never tire of seeing photos of this attraction, which continues to pique my curiosity every time I visit.
Here are some of the best we have featured this week (and in the past 45 years).
The Haunted Mansion, under construction in January 1971.
Anyone recognize these Happy Haunts?
Time for a “swinging wake”! Would you love to explore the ballroom?
Anyone have room in their Doom Buggie?

I recommend the Marceline tour for any fan of the Haunted Mansion. It’s a lot of fun and very interesting. One segment covers the Haunted Mansion and you’ll learn the backstory on many of the exhibits. You even go into the basement to see how that banquet scene is done. But be careful, cross that yellow line and you’ll never get out!!
Love the behind the scene pictures! Before Gus, Ezra and Phineas got their face-lifts I noticed something I didn’t remember seeing on my other trips to Disney World – that trunk with the painting sitting in it! Is that fairly new? It’s always so dark in there, no matter how many times I’ve ridden the Haunted Mansion I can’t seem to get a good look at it to tell who/what it is (it’s always reminded me of Lampwick). If anyone knows it would be the Disney Park blog!
My fav..!!! Haunted Mansion…??
