October is Bat Appreciation Month, and there is a lot to value and admire about bats!

Visit the Maharajah Jungle Trek any day, and you will see many guests marveling at the Malayan flying foxes! They are the world’s largest bat species – their wingspans surpass 6 feet!

Bats are immensely valuable to our daily lives. Malayan flying foxes in southeast Asia help transport tree seeds that can reforest areas, and they are one of the few seed dispersers large enough to carry the seeds of many giant fruits in the area. They also consume insects, which helps control disease.
