In the 1947 short, “Mickey and the Beanstalk,” Mickey trades his cow for a handful of magic beans he hopes will help feed himself and his farmer friends, Donald and Goofy. When the moonlight causes the magic beans to sprout into a giant beanstalk, the trio are pushed into an adventure that soon has them rescuing a magical Golden Harp from a wicked giant.

“Mickey and the Beanstalk” was the inspiration for this week’s Disney Doodle, in which artist Ashley Taylor imagined Mickey, Donald, Goofy – and their new friend, Golden Harp – dining with happy abundance at Magic Kingdom Park.

“‘Mickey and the Beanstalk’ was my favorite Disney animated short as a kid!,” Ashley said. “I loved the Magical Harp girl and was thrilled to be able to draw her, Mickey, Donald and Goofy at Liberty Tree Tavern.”

  • This is all kinds of awesome! Liberty Tree Tavern was the very first location I worked in when I became a Cast Member in 1997. Back then, we had character dining with Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip and Dale (we did get visits from Donald and Daisy, even Meeko for some time) It was such a great place to work and I made friends for life. Hear ye, hear ye!!!
