When “Moana” sailed into theaters last week, Disney cruisers were among the first to experience this highly anticipated animated film that premiered on our ships the same day as on land.

Congrats to the film’s incredibly talented cast and to Walt Disney Animation Studios on producing yet another blockbuster hit. The film delivered an estimated $81.1M over the five-day holiday weekend, making it the second largest Thanksgiving debut ever behind “Frozen.”

Auli’i Cravalho, the voice of Moana, recently sailed on the Disney Magic, making her part of the Disney Cruise Line family. Ryan March had the opportunity to interview this rising Disney star while onboard, and if you haven’t already seen it, be sure to take a look. Better yet, if you haven’t already seen the film, go see it in theaters now in 3D!

  • DCL plays first run Disney movies, as soon as they are released in the States. Day of release films are sometimes shown in the Walt Disney Theater because of the number of people who want to see them. Otherwise, they normally show in the Buena Vista Theater.

  • Loved this movie! We went and saw it Thanksgiving day! Will it be playing in theatres on the ships? We’ll be sailing the Magic Dec 18!

  • Will Moana appear for meet and greets or be shown in the theater soon on the ships? We’re going to be on the Magic in January!
