Southern California artist Steven Daily’s work with the bounty hunter Boba Fett is titled “Disarmed.” Northern California native Leilani Joy’s new artwork featuring Princess Leia is titled, “Rebel With a Cause.” We asked Leilani about the inspiration behind her work.

“In this piece, I wanted to capture Princess Leia’s strength and leadership, while foreshadowing her biggest foe, Darth Vader. Peering through a TIE-Fighter window, we see R2-D2 and C-3PO on the surface of Tatooine on their way to deliver a most important message. Like many kids, I grew up with Star Wars, and it was an honor to bring these beloved characters to life in my own style.”

This artwork was created especially for Disney Parks and will only be found at WonderGround Gallery.

Comments

  • For artists such as these (and other fan artists), do they need permission to create Disney-inspired art? If so, what is the process to be an “approved artist”?
