Update: The Moonlight Magic event originally scheduled for Thursday, June 22 has been moved to Friday, June 23, 2017.
“Ever After” continues “after hours” in 2017 as Disney Vacation Club presents 11 “Moonlight Magic” events for Members and special guests as part of “Membership Magic Ever After.”
These complimentary, after-hours events at Disney Parks feature shorter-than-usual wait times at some of the parks’ most popular attractions, special entertainment and character appearances, complimentary treats and more.
I’m not sure which rare sight I enjoy most at these parties: characters in unexpected places or ensembles, families moving through attraction queues like they’re powerwalking a 5K or people waiting in line for free food…while eating free food.
This year’s bi-coastal event schedule includes “Moonlight Magic” events at Magic Kingdom Park (Feb. 24 and March 3), Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (June 23 and 28, and July 5 and 13), Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Sept. 6 and 13), Disneyland park in California (Nov. 15) and Epcot (Dec. 4 and 11). (It’s worth noting that the Moonlight Magic events at Epcot replace the previously offered “Merry Member Mixer” gatherings as part of an effort to broaden the experience, accommodate more Members and remove the requirement of paid theme park admission.)

Being a member for 18 years I never liked that DVC is n ot very good at keeping members informed with special events.By the time it’s posted you are out of luck. Why can’t we be informed directly? We as members should be able to get daily updates like other web pages that keep me informed.I am waiting on the Typhoon Lagoon dates to open for booking and not liking that I have to keep checking. We should have a checklist in our info Bio that we can check off so DVC can send the updates prior to booking day.
I also am disappointed with the lack of notice & lack of availability for the MK event in March for accommodations to reserve. I was on the wait list up until today constantly checking in for availability. I also agree with it being only a DVC event, x2 guests would be plenty! I hope adjustments will be made immediately, before the next events in Sept & Dec, to reflect how many DVC members got left out of this great event!
I agree this was poor planning when the announcement for the MK Moonlight Magic arrives in the mailbox and I log on that night and it’s already “SOLD OUT” That’s not my idea of magic ever after.. more like never after. Very disappointing.
So I bought plane tickets and made reservations when I first heard about this months ago and now I find out that the event is sold out when I never received anything telling me the event was open. Are we supposed to go on the site EVERYDAY to figure out that they opened a registration process??
I am bummed that there won’t be a Member Merry Mixer. We always looked forward to it each year.
I don’t think that 2 dates for the events is enough for everyone who is a member to attend. They book up so quickly.
Question….for the complimentary California DVC member event in November 15, 2017, do we need to have a valid ticket or annual passport to enter the park to attend this complimentary event or are we able to enter the park by showing our DVC membership card without a ticket? And when will we be able to register for this event? As mentioned by Deborah, we check and we check, and once it’s on the website to register, it’s already sold out.
Also, these events should be geared towards DVC members only and not where members can bring upto 10 or more guests who are not members. This is what causes the quick sell outs and makes it unfair for those DVC members who really want to go to these events and are unable to because others bring in so many of their own. Just wanted to voice that. Thanks.
Typo in the previous post: it should read “when” that information will be posted, not “where.”
For the Disneyland event it states:
“Please continue to check back for online booking details.”
This is precisely the problem trying to book these events. Who knows where that information will be posted? Based on how quickly these events “sell” out, if you miss it even by a few hours you miss out. Even if you are lucky enough to know the date and time you can go online and book, based on previous experience, the likelihood of it working correctly is small. Case in point: when I tried to call and book the Soarin’ Backstage Tour the moment reservations opened, the Cast Members had no idea what I was talking about and said they needed to check on it and told me to call back. No time to call back, and no waitlist for those that called on time. I called back several times and they still didn’t have it loaded into the system to book. And of course, once it was ready to book, it filled within minutes since only 4 or 5 members can book.
Thank you!! So looking forward to the MK Moonlight Magic event in March! I was able to get tickets thanks to the information on the DVC site, and as well as the DVC FB page back in early December. Let the countdown begin!!!
Any idea when registration for Typhoon Lagoone will open?
I don’t understand how some of these can be sold out. The MK holds a LOT of people. We are going to be there on 2/24 and its sold out already 🙁
Unfortunately we can’t extend our stay for 2/24. Tried and tried to get tickets for 2/16 the night of our arrival but was unable to. Very disappointed.
Poor planning that DVC announces it on 2/17 and by 2/19 it is sold out, should probably offer more than 2 days!
bummer that the MK event is the Friday before the Princess 10k when runners would be sleeping for their early wake-up call, otherwise this would be fun. We enjoyed the DVC anniversary event at DCA this past year and would love to attend another event like it.
Extended our stay, so we can go on 2/24! I can’t wait!!
