“Happily Ever After,” a new nighttime spectacular that will combine the magic of Disney storytelling, beloved Disney characters, fireworks and so much more, will debut at Magic Kingdom Park on May 12.
The spectacular will inspire guests to seek out and find their own “Happily Ever After” by showcasing some of the greatest adventures Disney characters have taken to achieve their dreams. The show will feature the latest fireworks and pyrotechnics and original animation, plus a heart-tugging original score. And thanks to the inclusion of state-of-the-art projection mapping technology, more Disney characters than ever before will be featured in the show, including moments from “Moana,” “Brave,” “Big Hero 6,” “Zootopia,” “The Princess & The Frog,” “Aladdin” and many others.
The Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace will continue to offer up a scrumptious way to view the nighttime fun as “Happily Ever After” makes its debut.
Keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog as more details are released in the coming weeks.

I really would like to see Wishes back. It brings back good memories of when I was younger and my parents took me to Disney and we would watch the Wishes show before we would leave. Even if it was brought back just certain times of the year it would be okay to me. The new shoe is good but just like to be able to see the Wishes show even if it was only shown once a year would be nice.
Will there be two show times? 9pm AND 10pm? I’d like to see the 10 pm show when it’s not so crowded. The Disney experience app doesn’t show the 10pm showing.
I was part of the many that watched it online through YouTube and I have to say, I was amazed. I’ve been a life long lover of all things Disney, I’ve been an annual passholder with my fiance for three years. We are both excited to do the dessert party at the Tomorrowland Terrace while watching it.
I have seen the new show from my porch during two test runs at 11:35 pm this week. All I can say is WOW! Prepare to be amazed! The most colorful and jam-packed fireworks display ever!!
Wow, people! Give it a chance. Wait until you see it at least before you trash it. Let’s all not be so afraid of change. Yes, sometimes change doesn’t work out; but many other times it does. It’s called the process of innovation–and I think Disney does it exceptionally well. I look forward to seeing this new version of magic. Can’t wait!
Devastating. What a poor decision. Nothing about the new show makes me think it’s going to be anything but significantly worse. The movie choices are really suspect as well. Why? People are going to hate this.
I’m very excited to see this! Zootopia, Moana, and Princess and the Frog all in one show… It doesn’t get better than that!
As good as they make the new show sound, I really doubt it will be as good as wishes. More projection, less fireworks, that’s all it will be, just like they did with Symphony in the stars at Hollywood Studios. The new Galactic Spectacular is not even half as good. I saw wishes a few nights ago and the show was already different, a lot of the big fireworks that launch before the ending, never showed up. It’s already starting.
Hello! Do you know if the dessert cruise will continue, as well? I don’t see anything available, but I was really hoping to book for our trip coming up in July. Thanks!
hi
we need a replace for the MSEP how
what is comeing to the MK for the MSEP leaveing
thanks howard
disney lets go we need a night time parade
I’m extremely heartbroken to see Wishes go. It is my favorite show to look forward to every trip. I have memories of my kids and i sitting in front of the castle watching the beautiful fireworks. Its hard to believe the new show will be better because Wishes is as good as it can get in my opinion. I really hope the new show has classic music, and characters and is not just focusing on the newer movies because the classics are the best! Sad that so many classics are being taken away. Between wishes, the osborne lights, disneyquest, and cirque ending, it’s hard to justify going to Disney these days.
Just as an fyi.The desserts party is wonderful for the fireworks and food is great but you can’t really see the projections on the castle. If you’ve seen the show before, it’s fine but otherwise you may be disappointed.
When Disney ended the Electric Light Parade I was disappointed. I didn’t care for it’s replacement and was happy to see it return. Love Wishes, we see it almost every day we are visiting at Bay Lake Lounge. I don’t really mind new at WDW but if the new doesn’t improve the go back. It worked with the Parade.
I’m extremely disappointed that Wishes will be replaced. Nothing will ever take it’s place. I’m really sick of all the changes that are taking place.
Will the final wishes show on may 11 have anything extra as a grand finale ?
Will the final wishes show on may 11 have any thing extra special since it’s the final show?
Septemeber can not get here fast enough!!!!
Will there be projections on Main Street similar to what was done for the Disneyland Forever show during the Diamond Celebration?
Wow no more wishes that is really disappointing. It is my favorite part of the Magic Kingdom. However you guys are the best and I’m sure whatever you do will be just as special.
It will be AMAZING, Christopher. Stay tuned for more details on what to expect…
Hey Jen, can you confirm for the majority of us who like Wishes, that this show will also be emotional, with classical films, not just new movies with a central theme of the show being a happy, carefree, happy-go-lucky show?
Will you be able to see the projection show on the front of the castle from the park garden view dessert party?
I can’t wait to see ‘Happily Ever After’! I got goosebumps just hearing clips of the new score!
I’m really sad to see Wishes go, along with so many other great things at Disney that keep being taken out. It was one of my favorite Disney experiences, and I hope the When You Wish Upon a Star song can still be played with the “shooting stars.” That part was always so moving! Please, Disney, start adding instead of replacing classic Disney experiences. I’m all for new stuff, but I hate seeing favorites being taken away. (Wishes, Pizza Planet, Backlot Tour, Lights Motors Action, etc) I never had a chance to say goodbye to them!
Will this be something non-princess fans will enjoy? My boys absolutely loved Wishes but are not at all interested in what they think sounds like a princess-heavy “Happily Ever After” theme.
Of course! Remember, “happily ever afters” come in many forms! I can’t wait to take my son to see the show.
Wishes are forever!!
A bit wary of this change but won’t make judgement until I see it… Will the more classic movies still be represented?
Also, the most magical part of Wishes for me is when they played “When You Wish Upon A Star” as those beautiful fireworks that look like fairy dust went off, will this still be a feature? Those 30 seconds were my favourite part of the trip every time.
Will the music still be piped in through locations like Top of the World lounge and the beaches at various resorts near the Magic Kingdom?
Yes. The team designed the show so it could be enjoyed from everywhere “Wishes” is currently seen today. While projections and other special effects will make the in-park experience unique, guests watching from Magic Kingdom resorts, watercraft on Seven Seas Lagoon, etc., will still see a full show of fireworks accompanied by a musical score.
Will fastpass options be available for the grass viewing areas?
So is there no longer going to be the electrical parade. When does this happen what time? Also will this replace the fireworks that usually happen after the electrical parade?
“Happily Ever After” will be the main fireworks show at Magic Kingdom Park beginning on May 12. For times during your next visit, visit MyDisneyExperience.com for the latest entertainment schedule.
Although “Wishes” was magical, I’m definitely optimistic and excited for change! Especially as someone who visits 3 to 4x a year from NW Ohio,…I love to see rotation, development, and ‘newness’ in Live Shows/Entertainment upon each visit. With adding the more recent films, I can fully appreciate appealing to the current trends but I *would* like to see you feature more obscure/rare iconic moments so often ignored in Live Shows (i.e. “Peter and the Wolf”, “Song of the South”, “Bedknobs and Broomsticks”, “Pete’s Dragon” (the original 1977 version), “The Rescuers”, “Fox and the Hound”, “Robin Hood”,”Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “Hercules”.) Sadly NONE of these films are remotely (nor aggressively) considered in your Live Shows offerings which I find to be very frustrating.
Love Wishes but so excited to see the new show!! Now we just need a new light parade and we’re good to go! Crossing my fingers hoping one is in the works!
I hope you love the new show, Joseph. Keep your eye on the blog for future sneak peeks at what our amazing team has been creating.
Is there a place for us to buy a current professional video of the current wishes show? That way we have it to show to our kids in the future so they can see how things were?
Jennifer, Will you guys be doing a live stream for this and Rivers of Light when that debuts? Hope so, I love the live streams!! Thanks!!
We hope to have more #DisneyParksLIVE events in the coming months. Keep your eye on the blog for updates.
Any chance there will be a Wishes livestream event before it gets replaced so those who won’t make it to say goodbye has one last chance? That would be awesome!
I love Wishes, and I hope Happily Ever After is at least as good. That’s no easy task. I’m a little apprehensive about it, because while I like the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular at Hollywood Studios, I liked the Symphony of Star Wars fireworks much better, but I do understand not wanting to close half of the park for the fireworks. It’s just really difficult for kids to see the projections because of height. Heck, I’m 5’2″ and it’s not easy for me. I had people standing near me from New Orleans a couple of months ago and the kids were crying because they couldn’t see what was going on. I hope over time, maybe when the new land is open there will be a better way.
We are going in March 2017, I am assuming Wishes will still be the show at this time?
Yes. “Wishes” will end on May 11 and “Happily Ever After” will begin on May 12.
Will there’ll be a scene from Tangled in this show?, because the other nighttime show(Once Upon a Time)has no scenes represented.
This is heartbreaking to hear. Wishes is my favorite thing about Disney World. It is magic. I sing it to my kids every night and it’s been amazing to see my first 2 watch Wishes for the first time, hear the music, and instantly look at me because it’s “our song”. I cry every time I see it and I even have a favorite firework – that big one at the end high in the sky with the classic “when you wish upon a star” music in the background. That moment is just perfect. I’m glad that at least my third will get to see it once, but she won’t be old enough to remember it and that makes me so sad. I have to admit I’m not terribly optimistic about this change. Especially with the inclusion of (probably too much) Frozen and Brave. Frozen is overdone and Brave is my least favorite Disney movie. Bring in the new, of course. Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and Big Hero 6 are great, but please don’t ignore the classics. It is, after all, Cinderella’s castle.
What about during December? We’ll be there then and I can’t imagine there NOT being a Holiday Wishes.
Special fireworks shows that run for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will remain the same.
Can’t wait to see it but I hope Tinkerbell still flies from the castle!
Yes, I can confirm that Tinker Bell still flies in the new show.
Wishes has meant so much to so many. If the decision has been made to change and update the show, we can understand that (though we will miss Wishes very much). What I think we struggle with is the decision to announce the new show and relegate the announcement of the ending of Wishes to a mere footnote in the comments. To us, Wishes is iconic, and deserves more than a passing mention in the comments here. It also deserves a formal send off that recognizes its inspirational impact on so many.
At first I was a bit miffed because I have loved Wishes since I first saw it back in 2011 and it holds a special place in my heart, but after seeing the preview of Happily Ever After, I’m excited to see what it will look like. I will miss Wishes, though.
We hope to share even more about the show over the next few weeks, Joy. They’ve put a lot of heart and imagination into developing the show. I think we’re all in for a treat.
