Cheer For Your Favorite Walt Disney World Attractions during ‘March Magic’ Online Fan Vote

by , Senior Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility, Walt Disney World Resort

Back by popular demand, the annual “March Magic” fan vote returns this month with 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort. We need your help in deciding which team will be crowned the title of “Ultimate Disney Attraction.” Voting will take place from March 14 to April 3 via the official Walt Disney World Facebook page. I recently spoke with Meredith Gaiser from the Disney Parks and Resorts Digital team about what makes this tournament extra magical for guests.

March Magic 2017

“This is the fourth year for the ‘March Magic’ tournament,” explained Meredith. “Since its inception, this tournament has celebrated beloved Disney attractions both classic and new. We enjoy seeing how excited our fans get during the tournament. It has become a fun way for guests to share their love for Disney Parks.”

March Magic 2017

Artwork for the March Magic teams was created by Disney Design Group artists. Guests will find returning favorites including the Future World Phoenicians or last year’s tournament champion, the Hollywood Tower Hotel Bellhops. We’ve also added several new teams such as the Electrical Water Pageant Sea Serpents and the Carousel of Progress Rovers.

To get started, download the printable bracket above to keep track of your choices. Be sure to read the terms of use about using the sheet before you download it.

The final matchup between the top two attractions will take place on April 3.

March Magic 2017

Guests will also find graphic T-shirts and posters featuring March Magic 2017 teams on DisneyStore.com from March 14 to April 4, 2017. This year, all items will be carried throughout the duration of the tournament.

“I love when guests wear the ‘March Magic’ shirts to Disney Parks,” continued Meredith. “The T-shirts and other products we offer connect something found only in a digital environment to the real world. These items are a physical way for guests to tell others about their favorite Disney attractions. I can imagine cheers from guests when they see others wearing their favorite team shirts.”

To place an order, please visit DisneyStore.com/MarchMagic. Please allow 3-5 weeks for shipments once orders are placed.

Comments

  • Just made my Sunday, let the March Magic begin!

  • No Phasma??????

    • @Howard – I’m unsure which attraction you are referencing.

  • I wish that Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror would be retired from the tournament and sent away to the Hall of Champions. In their place, they should’ve brought back teams they didn’t get very far in previous tournaments, such as the Country Bears.

That way, other attractions could have a chance at become champions.

  • AWESOME. I have been participating for the past two years (Go Dreamfinders!) and each year it gets better. I’m going to have a heck of a time picking my shirts!

    • @Holly – Thank you for voting! We’re delighted to have March Magic return this year. 🙂

  • This is the best thing ever!!! I LOVE this! Looking forward to a hype video- will there be one!! The teams are all so good! How can you pick just one?!

    • @Alisha – It is quite difficult to select just one team as there are so many wonderful attractions and shows at Walt Disney World Resort.

  • Hi Steven. Will Disneyland be participating this year?

    • @Brian – This year, March Magic will include 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort. There will be some Disneyland Resort-inspired team products available on the Disney Parks online store starting March 14.

  • Love the new designs can’t wait to play again this year ?

  • I love all the logos, and that you’re doing shirts this year! (Really hoping for men’s and women’s cuts rather than unisex… or at least a wide range of unisex sizes.)

  • So the bracket will only have WDW attractions? No Disneyland this year?

    • @Savannah – March Magic will have 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort. Look for some products with teams inspired by attractions at Disneyland Resort on the online store starting March 14.

  • I was waiting for this announcement. Though, I noticed that this post was for Walt Disney World. Will Disneyland be participating this year? I was hoping to get a new Mad Tea Cups shirt.

Also, I loved the pins that were released with last year’s teams. Is there a chance that these designs will be released as pins as well?

    • @Andrew – March Magic this year will focus on 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort. We will have some products featuring Disneyland Resort-inspired teams on the online store beginning March 14. I haven’t seen any new development for pins but I know there will be shirts and posters offered online throughout the tournament.

  • Does this mean there won’t be any Disneyland-specific teams this year?

    • @Stephanie – We will offer some Disneyland-specific team products on the online store starting March 14. This year, March Magic will have 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort.

  • Why does it only say Disney World on the bracket?? I thought it was always the parks against each other

    • @Kristin – This year 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort will be a part of March Magic.

  • Is there no Disneyland representation this year then?

    • @Lindsey – You may find some Disneyland Resort-inspired team products on the online store starting March 14. The March Magic Tournament will only have 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort.

  • How exciting to hear the bracket will happen again! Can’t wait to shop. Go skippers!

  • Will Disneyland be included in this year’s event? Also, any news on Eggstravaganza?

    • @Shannon – We will have Disneyland Resort-inspired team products on the online store. Stay tuned for details about Egg-stravaganza coming to Disneyland Resort. The activity is currently taking place at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival in Florida through the end of May.

  • As much as I was anticipating March Magic and I’m still happy to see it return, the apparent elimination of Disneyland Resort attractions lessens it quite a bit for me (unless a DLR version of this post is forthcoming). The East Coast vs. West Coast dynamic was a great part of the fun in previous years, in my opinion.

The seemingly random addition of 2 teams that cause the bracket to be 18 instead of 16 also makes it seem just random.

  • So wait, is Disneyland not participating this year? If not, why?

    • @Matthew – There will 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort for March Magic this year. Look for Disneyland Resort-inspired team products on the online store starting March 14.

  • There seems to be a Cranium Commanders and Adventureland Swirl tee-shirts shown, but they do not appear on the bracket anywhere?

Is this like last year, 2 teams that “didn’t make the cut”for the tournament, but will have shirts/etc. offered?

    • @Dave – You are correct. There are some teams that will have products but are not a part of the tournament.

  • Since I have a pheonecians shirt from last year… In think this year will have to be the sea serpents and of course orange bird. So glad to see this back again. I hope they have a buy one get one half off again.

    .

  • Why do we see the Adventureland Swirls shirt, but it’s not on the bracket? Are they part of this year’s tournament?

    • @Keely – There are some teams whose designs we loved so much that we made them into products. They unfortunately won’t be a part of the overall March Magic tournament. We did a similar thing during March Magic 2016.

  • Why are the Commanders and Swirl not in the bracket?

    • @Tyler – There are some teams who didn’t make the tournament but we loved the designs. We chose to offer them as products on the online store. We did a similar thing for two teams last year.

  • No Disneyland this year?

    • @Erica – This year we will have 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort in the March Magic tournament. There will be some products on the online store that were inspired by attractions found at Disneyland Resort.

  • Where and when can I purchase a shirt?

    • @Jaime – I invite you to visit DisneyStore.com/MarchMagic starting March 14.

  • Is there going to be a Disneyland League?

    • @Greg – There will be some products inspired by attractions found at Disneyland Resort on the online store. The tournament will include 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort.

  • I’m disappointed. I have loved March Magic the last few years, and was greatly looking forward to this year. I was rather dismayed to discover, though, that the original, Disneyland, was not being included. Why? Not all of us Disney fans have been able to visit the east coast parks, and don’t have the emotional connection to it, that we have to the west coast park.

    • @Jason – Guests will find select team products from attractions found at Disneyland Resort on the online store. This year, the March Magic tournament will feature 18 teams inspired by attractions from across all four parks at Walt Disney World Resort.

  • Will the shirts be shipped internationally this year? Last year they weren’t .

  • I noticed that all of the shirts listed on the bracket aren’t pictured, but there is a shirt pictured (Cranium Commanders) that isn’t on the bracket…

    • @Nicole – There are some teams whose designs we loved that we included as products for the online store. They were not included in the overall March Magic tournament.

  • Big bummer, no Disneyland?!

  • How do you download the bracket?

    • @Zachary – Please click on the image which should take you to a larger image you can download.

  • I saw that for Disneyland, we have Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin (I REALLY want that one), Neverland Lost Boys, Main Street Barber Quartet, Astro Orbitors, Big Thunder Mountain Goats, Storybook Land Monstros, Frontierland Churros, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. Excited for this year!

    • @Lyle – Glad you found those designs via our partners at Oh My Disney! Look for the Disneyland Resort-inspired team product on the online store starting March 14.

  • As others have said, I really enjoy this March Magic offering from Disney, but am saddened Disneyland is not included this year, since DLR vs. WDW was part of the fun in years’ past. (Perhaps next year is DLR’s turn?). Additionally surprising is that the 18 teams are scattered about the bracket– I had initially thought that each quadrant would contain the teams from a single WDW park, so that the final four would consist of the best from each park facing off. Alas, this is still great fun. The inclusion of the Electrical Water Pageant was a nice touch. Go get ‘um Bellhops!

  • Hi Steve! T- shirts are great, but in the hot Florida sun, tank tops are better. Will the logos be available on women’s tanks?

    • @Meena – There is not an option for women’s tanks this year.

  • Steven, I see the shirts are now available online but I only see Adult sizes… no kid options??? Am I missing something?

    • @Jay – There are only adult sizes offered this year.

  • I’m so glad this tradition is continuing! I was also excited to see Matterhorn included in the merchandise as I took my first trip to Disneyland last year.

    Go Skippers!

  • Will any of these Tees be available at Disney Store locations, or are they online only!
    PS- Go Vultures!

    • @Hannah – These March Magic products will only be found online. There are no plans to carry them at physical store locations.

  • I purchased the Adventureland Swirl tee shirt!! I am so excited for it to come in the mail!! #MarchMagic

    • @Madison – Thank you! It’s one of my favorites.

  • Will voting be available somewhere else besides Facebook? I don’t use Facebook.

    • @Michael – Voting will only be conducted via the official Walt Disney World Facebook page. I’m sorry there is not another option this year.

  • Awesome shirts, really excited about churros and vultures. Why did you get rid of Expedition Everest Yetis that is by far the best attraction in Animal Kingdom?

    • @Howard – We have periodically introduced new teams to the March Magic tournament each year. I’m sorry to hear the Expedition Everest Yetis didn’t make the tournament this time.

  • Very disappointed that there aren’t shirts available in sizes larger than XXL. I would love to buy a Luigi’s Rollicking Roadsters shirt and a Dole Whip shirt but I know they won’t fit me.

  • Love the inclusion of Horizons this year, even if they aren’t in the actual tournament, I will forever love that Ride. Next year though I want to see The Great Movie Ride Gangsters, Cowboys or Aliens! LOL And something for Mission Space, Gran Giesta Tour & Frozen Ever After.

  • This is my first time following this, how do I know who won each match?

    • @Nancy – Please follow the official Walt Disney World Facebook page as updates will be provided there. I’ll have a follow up story in a few weeks once the final four teams are selected by fans.

  • Is there any way to vote besides Facebook? I don’t have a Facebook account.

    • @Alyssa – The only option for voting this year is via the official Walt Disney World Facebook page.

  • When and where will the winners for each round be announced? Thanks!

    • @Thomas – I invite you to follow along on the official Walt Disney World Facebook page. There will be updates shared about future match-ups. I’ll have a follow up story in a few weeks about the championship playoffs.

  • Do the numbers on the back of the shirts represent anything or were they chosen at random?

  • Any plans to release the penant sticker pack like last year? Those were one of my favorite Disney Park purchases ever!

  • @Stephanie Price I believe the numbers are the year that particular attraction opened. The same goes for all the character shirts with numbers – those are the years that character was created.

  • I thought all the numbers were supposed to have some meaning as well, but I admit a few have me stumped:

I can’t figure out what “07” has to do with either the Phoenicians (Spaceship Earth update that year maybe?) or Grizzly River Run (Opened in ’01 as a DCA original attraction, right?).

For the Cannonballs, and Internationals, the years (I think?) would seem to indicate the year of opening for the original DL versions of each ride, but the teams in the bracket are supposedly all WDW rides this year (maybe an intentional mixing, which is sort of interesting since a single shirt can in a small way represent each coast for those).

    • @Dave S – You are correct about Spaceship Earth – 2007 was the first time the attraction narration encouraged us to “Thank the Phoenicians.” Grizzly River Run opened in 2001. And good catch about the other attractions.

  • It is very disappointing that Disneyland is not involved in the March Magic tournament! As several people have not have the private or ability of visiting all four of Disney World’s parks, not including Disneyland in this will significantly reduce/dilute the true ‘Magic’ of the event.

  • Just bough a “Jungle Cruise Skippers” and “Main Street Barbershop Quartet” t-shirt!

    • @Makayla – Thank you 🙂

  • Will there be March Magic Disney Mascots Mystery Pin Sets this year?

    • @Sammy – I’m not aware of any development.
