Last weekend, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2” blasted its way to the top of the box office charts, and now the cosmic heroes are getting ready to land at Disney California Adventure park. The action kicks off in a big way May 27 with the opening of the all-new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and the launch of Summer of Heroes which includes Super Hero fun for everyone!

Encounter the Guardians of the Galaxy Starting May 27 During Summer of Heroes at Disney California Adventure Park

During “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!Star-Lord and Gamora return to the Collector’s Fortress to retrieve a special artifact … Star-Lord’s precious boom box. Looking to avoid discovery, they ignite a lively party vibe, enlisting everyone gathered around to help out and show off your favorite dance moves in a rockin’ Dance Off.

And for the first time on Terra (that’s Earth to you and me) you’ll encounter the one-and-only Groot. He arrives on the scene just as the Dance Off is wrapping up, but is happy to stay for a while and visit with everyone as Star-Lord and Gamora make their escape.

Summer of Heroes also brings more excitement across Hollywood Land, including the Avengers Training Initiative featuring Black Widow and Hawkeye and heroic encounters with Black Widow, Captain America and your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This summer is going to be epic!

    • Marsi – Yes, you’ll be able to get pictures with Groot when you encounter him in the park. Star-Lord and Gamora will be present during the Awesome Dance Off, but won’t be hanging around for individual photos.

  • We’re AP holders how do you get invited to special events and previews? We would love to attend the guardians event.

    • Jessica – The Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Premiere Party is a separately-ticketed event that is not exclusive to Annual Passholders. For specific AP opportunities, be sure to keep an eye on the Disneyland Annual Passholder Facebook page.

  • Yes. Will there be an Annual Passholder preview day??

  • It should be worth noting Shawn that Star Lord and Baby Groot are already meeting at Hollywood Studios!

    • Ian – You’re right. The Milano has touched down at Walt Disney World recently, but it looks like Groot will be all grown up by the time he makes it to Disneyland Resort this summer.

    • Olivia – I think you’re in luck! The Summer of Heroes campaign is planned to continue through Sept. 10. Of course, Groot and the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! will be available year-round, so you would get to see them even if the dates didn’t quite work out.

  • Thank you, Shawn! I am very excited!

  • I am GRoot?

  • Also, will the Dance Party happen multiple times a day or is it like the Mad-T Party that just happened at night?

    • Loren – The “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!” will take place several times throughout the day, just outside the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction.

  • Will they be at the Premiere Party on May 26?

    • Loren – I have also confirmed that all three of these characters will appear in person during the special event on May 26. If you’re attending, you’ll have opportunities that night to encounter Groot and to participate in the Dance Off with Star-Lord and Gamora.
