2000 Days and Nights at the Disneyland Resort — A Super Hero Achievement for the Summer of Heroes

It was New Year’s Day, January 1, 2012, when Jeff Reitz, of Huntington Beach, California, began his special Disneyland Resort adventure: a plan to visit the parks every day for a year.

He never stopped.

On Thursday, June 22, Jeff visited for the 2000th consecutive day, a super heroic feat in the midst, appropriately enough, of the Summer of Heroes at the Disneyland Resort.

Reitz, a U.S. Air Force veteran who works for the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Long Beach, California (on work days, he makes his visits in the evening), credits the parks with recharging him after a hard day.

He says he enjoys the music, the friendly park cast members and watching park guests having a good time. His favorite attraction is Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland park, and he’s experienced the new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction at Disney California Adventure park more than a dozen times already.

He’s also looking forward to the return of “Fantasmic!” on July 17 along the Rivers of America in Disneyland park.

Reitz adds that Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park are always fun, and he’s going to continue treating himself to daily park visits for as long as he can.

If you were visiting Disneyland Resort for the 2000th time, where would you head first?

  • Woooo Jeff!! Thank you for your service and for your work in the VA. I know so many people who are truly thankful for people like you.

  • Way to go Jeff! I 🙂

  • I wish I lived close to a Disney park so I could do the same! ❤️

  • You are solo lucky!

  • A quick bit o’ math shows 2000 visits = nearly 5 1/2 YEARS…. Awesome, Jeff! Thanks for your service to your fellow veterans, as well. Flag Ceremony is one of my favorite events at Disneyland park; hope it continues for as long as the park exists.

  • Jeff is in the enviable position to live nearby a Disney park and have an annual pass. Having the ability to visit just for a couple of hours after work is the best way to enjoy the parks. I had this opportunity in the summer of 2000 at WDW. One night I would ride Spaceship Earth, Test Track and catch a performance of The American Adventure. On another, People Mover, Alien Encounter and Big Thunder. That was an unforgettable summer.

  • I met Jeff a while back during an annual passholder viewing of World of Color. He sat next to me in my scooter. Jeff is real nice I had read about him, in what he was doing. CONGRATS Jeff!! Here’s to many more days coming to our happy place. Disneyland!!

  • Jeff finds joy in every visit no matter how long or short it is. His delight in interacting with cast members, guests and characters shows on his face. He truly gets how magical Disneyland Resort is. Thank you for spotlighting him.

  • I remember reading about him when he first started his streak.
