Calling All Dreamers to Disney Dreamers Academy 2018

We all know that Walt Disney is famous for saying “If you can dream it, you can do it.’’ That sentiment is at the heart of our Disney Dreamers Academy program, and for the 11th straight year we are inviting high school students nationwide to come to Walt Disney World Resort to dream a little bigger.

Applications are being accepted now for the 2018 Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE magazine, the one-of-a-kind mentoring program that is helping to inspire young minds from across the country by fueling their dreams and showing them a world of possibilities as they prepare for the future.

Similar to the past 10 years, the 100 selected students will receive an all-expense paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort where they will participate in immersive career workshops, ranging from animation to zoology. Each student is taught important skills, such as communication techniques, leadership qualities and networking strategies, and are inspired by celebrity speakers and special guests who share their success stories and provide insight on how to reach for the stars.

And the program is making a tangible difference as evidenced by the many former participants who’ve gone on to pursue careers as authors, pilots, doctors, entrepreneurs, journalists and engineers, and even work at Disney.

Any U.S. high school student, ages 13 to 19, can apply through Oct. 31, 2017 and selected participants will be announced in early 2018. To apply, just go to DisneyDreamersAcademy.com.

  • My daughter had the same issue that Meaghan’s daughter had (in the above comments)! Her last two essays seem to have been swapped in the online submission process. Is there any way to get in touch with someone about it? She is so excited to be considered for this amazing experience. Truly a dream opportunity!

  • Mr. Fry, my daughter applied, but we realized, in reviewing her responses, in my summary e-mail, that the system swapped two of her answers. Do you know who she can speak to, to verify that this does not get her disqualified from consideration? We cannot find any contact information on the Disney dreamers Academy website. Thank you, so much, for posting about this opportunity!

  • I don’t think Walt Disney is famous for saying “If you can dream it, you can do it.’’ I believe that honor goes to Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald, who wrote, in the 80s, “If we can dream it, we can do it’’ for the former Horizons attraction at Epcot.

  • This sounds amazing! Such a disappointment that it is just for children in the United States. My 14 year old daughter would absolutely love this! We are from Canada. It would be great if children outside of America could be given the opportunity!

  • This sound like an amazing experience, but I was wondering if there is a similar program for international students?? I live in Australia if that helps……
