Forty-five years ago, on June 17, 1972, the Main Street Electrical Parade first lit up the night at Disneyland park. It has since gone on to become the classic Disney Parks nighttime parade, even traveling across the country to delight guests at Walt Disney World Resort. Take a look through the years of the parade in the video below!

Main Street Electrical Parade can be experienced once again where it began – Disneyland park – now through August 20. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this classic and beloved parade!

  • @Jeffrey it’s not a rumor! I remember seeing MSEP at Disney World as a kid. And the Disney Parks Blog describes it as the longest-running nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom.

  • MSEP was the very first parade my daughter ever saw at Disneyland. It was her first trip, and she was not yet 3 years old. She is now a Disney “veteran,” and we have seen MSEP many times, in Disneyland, DCA and WDW. It is our favorite Disney parade ever–hands down!

We sincerely hope this will NOT be its last appearance at Disneyland Resort, our “home” parks.

  • Is there any word on if Paint the Night will return to Disneyland?

  • I read somewhere that this parade was performed at WDW a few times. But the video only mentions it being at DL and DCA. Must be one of those internet rumors.

  • Sniff ! Miss you, Old Friend!

  • And this only reminds me how sad I am that there is no night time parade….

  • I remember going in 1972 and it being the State of the Art, First in its Class, Parade Phenomenon Disney at Its Best; and it has been my absolute favorite parade ever since. I worked at DLR and appreciated every summer night on Main Street USA hearing Baroque Hoedown!

  • And Magic Kingdom..??? Please…please… ??
