Immersive Super Hero Experience Coming to Disney California Adventure Park

Moments ago at D23 Expo, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, gave a hint at what’s to come next for some of your favorite Super Heroes at Disney California Adventure park. Soon, the Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers in what will become a completely immersive Super Hero universe at the park.

These new stories will build on the success of the new and already popular Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! and create a place where you can team up with your favorite Super Heroes like never before. We don’t have more details to share just yet, but keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog as we reveal more about this one-of-a-kind experience.

  • RIP Bug’s Land

  • How does a Marvel Land fit the theme of California? Or are they changing the name of that park too?

  • Get Ready for Disney’s Hollywood Adventure Y’all! Wonder what they’ll do to Grizzly Peak, quite possibly Retheming Most of it to Avatar (Soarin’ stays), which probably means Na’vi River Run, and Avatar Challenge Trail.

  • I can’t wait to see my favorite Marvel functions like Wolverine, Deadpool and Dr. Doom! The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is my favorite ride at Marvel Superhero Island, can’t wait to see it at California Adventure!
    But, when will it becoming to Walt Disney World?

  • Benjamin, Marvel fits the theme as that park is called Disney’s California ADVENTURE! And Marvel films are all an adventure to watch and all tell about that marvel character’s adventure. And what’s more adventurous than a super hero?!? Thank you Disney for expanding the MCU to DLR! I can’t wait to experience it!

  • Marvel Land will come to Disneyland Paris Walt Disney Studios Park too?, right?

  • @Ryan
    We will likely never see a full out Marvel Land at WDW. If it the character is already at Universal’s IoA, then Disney cannot place them inside their own parks east of the Mississippi (i.e. WDW.)

    Likely won’t see Universal’s Spider Man ride in DCA either.

    @Benjamin
    The same way Star Wars Land fits Disneyland. That is to say, it doesn’t.
    Sure, it is California ADVENTURE (Emphasis added,) but the theme is very much the Adventure that is California. If it were perhaps themed to be the “Latest hot set in Hollywood,” then that *could* work.
    To be fair, that park (DCA) has always had issues. It just looks like they are giving up (per se) now that they finally fixed the park.

  • Sounds awesome.
    I hope they’ve got a handful of super heroes out in summer 18 when we go … my son will totally flip with excitement.

  • Andrea, every movie Disney makes is an adventure of some sort… and really any ride could be called an adventure. That doesn’t mean that anything they build just automatically fits the theme… Especially when the dedication plaque for the park specifically says that park is about the state of California… Not just about any and every sort of adventure they can cram in there.

  • Kathryn;
    I personally don’t put too much stock in rumors. I won’t believe that A Bug’s Land is getting removed until Disney officially announces it.
