During our LIVE coverage of the Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts presentation at D23 Expo 2017, we shared several exciting updates from Epcot, including a peek at a new Space restaurant and two attractions coming to the park: a “Guardians of the Galaxy”-inspired attraction being added to Future World and a “Ratatouille”-inspired attraction being planned for the France pavilion in World Showcase. Today, we have more on how we’re enhancing an existing experience at the park.
Walt Disney Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald announced that we are creating a new film for the China pavilion at Epcot that’ll feature the splendor and majesty of that amazing country – and we’re doing it with some new technology.
Taking a cue from Walt Disney, who pioneered many different storytelling and motion picture innovations, we’ve developed a next-generation digital camera system, much as we did for Soarin’. Our teams are going to be taking this immersive camera system on the road first to film a brand new seamless Circle-Vision show for the China pavilion.
We’ll have much more to share on this new film in the future. Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for updates from Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort.

This is exciting! I’ve loved the current show for many years, but it was definitely time for an update. While the narration was lovely, some of that footage was just too clearly dated.
On our visit to Epcot a few weeks ago I really felt like the Circle-Vision movies were still amazingly beautiful, but the technology had not aged well. The movies were often blurry and jittery, or varied from screen to screen in brightness. Similar content displayed with high resolution and a high frame rate would be amazing.
