Today we have an exciting milestone to share with you straight from the Toy Story Land construction site at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The final piece of track was recently installed on Slinky Dog Dash, a family coaster that will debut as one of the land’s two new attractions when Toy Story Land opens in summer 2018.
Our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering just shared this photo, which was snapped just as the final piece of red track was lowered into place.
In Toy Story Land, guests will shrink to the size of a toy and explore the world of Andy’s backyard. Fitting with the theme, Slinky Dog Dash will appear to be a coaster track that Andy has built all over his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit – as well as some of his other favorite toys.
Check out the video above to hear what our Imagineers have to say about this milestone. And don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more information on what to expect from Toy Story Land in summer 2018.
I am looking forward to the opening next year!
I too love that Disney continues to build family coasters! I can’t go on the big ones due to motion sickness, but family ones I’m all good. My husband and I always have more fun on the rides we can go on together. Thank you Disney!
Does anyone know the height requirements?
Not yet. 🙂
YAY!! Can’t wait to ride this coaster, it looks like fun! It is really incredible all the work that goes into a ride like this. Way to go everyone!
This coaster looks like a lot of fun. With so much focus on extreme thrill rides, it’s nice to see Disney does still create family friendly rides that everyone can enjoy. Will definitely be watching for updates to see what the actual ride vehicle looks like on the track and when Toy Story Land will open!
We can’t wait to share!
