During the recent D23 Expo, attendees were given the first look at the model of the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land, which is currently under construction at both the Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort.
The model was the first look at the new Star Wars-inspired land that will transport guests to a remote trading port and one of the last stops before Wild Space. Once the land opens in 2019, visiting guests will be able to indulge in adventure at two signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
Check out the video above to hear what D23 attendees are excited about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The Star Wars model is *massive*. The camera angles in these short promotional videos make it seem smaller than it really is. There is no way that it would fit into the opera house display case. It’s even too big for the Blue Sky Cellar in California Adventure.
Could it go where the 1955 map currently sits in the opera house?
Are there plans to display this at Disneyland? I attended the expo but unfortunately wasn’t able to see the model.
I was at the expo and saw this in person. It looks spectacular. I’m really excited.
