Help #SaveGroot at Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark During Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

Rocket needs your help to #SaveGroot at Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark — part of the expansion of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort to Disney California Adventure park!

Your adventure picks up moments after the events of the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Rocket enlists you to distract the creatures that have been released so he can find and rescue his little buddy. While The Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant, Apheta, may try to assure you that it is all just a momentary setback, we advise you to proceed with caution!

Once the sun sets each evening during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will transform into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. Music continues to be at the heart of the experience, and an all-new song, “Monsters After Dark,” was created especially for this attraction by Tyler Bates, composer of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.

Help #SaveGroot at Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, only during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, September 15-October 31!

Comments

  • What time does it actually change over?

  • For those of you wondering when to get your fastpasses for this one, fastpass distribution for Monsters After Dark starts daily at 3PM. Its all on the DL app.

  • Andrew–you just made me sad remembering that we can’t see Halloween scream fireworks without paying an addition $120/person for the party! Those were my favorite!!

  • How will fastlasses work to gain access to the nighttime scenes?

  • Please let us know the EXACT time it will change over. For example I would hate to have 6:30 fast passes and find out it changed at 6:45.

  • Oh I am so thrilled to ride Guardians of the Galaxy but even move excited for The Monsters After Dark!!!!!! Thank you for opening it before we leave!!!! The 15th is the perfect date!!!!

  • I hope this isn’t just for this year and happens every year as I am from Australia and I can’t come every year even though I would LOVE to. Look forward to trying the ride anyway.

  • I loved riding the ToT in complete darkness so I’m pretty excited to see how this compares! Thanks Erin!

  • Can someone please help me understand, first the Tower of Terror, now this?
When did Disney say “Horror” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” somehow fit together?

  • Excited about this since I will be taking my first trip to DL next month! So about what time of day will this change take place? I want to see both versions.

    • Brenda – The change will take place early in the evening.

  • Love the idea IF they offered it all day long, not just at night.

  • Sounds awesome! Very cool idea.

  • I don’t see Mission Breakout on the Refurbishment schedule and I want to be sure as well. Also, does this mean the regular version is available in the day time and the Monster version will only be available at night?

    • That is correct. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will run during daylight hours, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark will run after sunset. This means the attraction does not need to go down for refurbishment.

  • Hi Veronica. Yes, it’s for all guests, since this year, the Halloween Party is only in Disneyland.

  • Fantastic

  • So excited! Can’t wait to be there already!!

  • Will Guardians be close before September 15th to incorporate this change or will it remain open?

    • No downtime is necessary for this transformation, so the attraction will remain open.

  • Is this available to all guests, right? Not just to those who purchased the Halloween Party ticket? Thanks! So excited!!!

    • That is correct.

  • Very cool! This reminds me of the debut of the Halloween Screams fireworks – enjoy it in the first year when it’s free, as next year it’s likely to become exclusive to the Halloween Parties.
