Taking a page from Walt Disney’s playbook, Disneyland Resort Duty Managers roam the resort’s theme parks, hotels and Downtown Disney District to ensure they are operating smoothly. For 47 years, Duty Manager Dean Yamada has been connecting with guests and cast members to build relationships and create magical moments.
Dean starts his shift by checking in with team leaders in each land to make sure Disneyland park is show ready for the day. After that, his responsibility is to be aware of what is occurring throughout the day by looking at what guests are seeing and experiencing and being a resource for cast members. Dean is an amazing man that I got to know a bit when he helped provide me guidance on setting up a large traveling museum exhibition. The words that he spoke to me and the team that worked with me were invaluable. The insights that he provided to us improved the guest experience that we were able to provide.
