As Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced at D23 Expo Japan, Pixar Pier will open June 23 at Disney California Adventure park. This reimagined land will feature four whimsical neighborhoods representing beloved Pixar stories with newly themed attractions, foods and merchandise. Guests will enter Pixar Pier through a new marquee, pictured above, which will be topped by the iconic Pixar lamp later in the year.

The June 23 opening of Pixar Pier will also include the Incredicoaster – a super combination of character figures, lighting and special effects that will bring the Parr family racing alongside you in a high-speed adventure.

New 'Incredibles' Float Coming to 'Paint the Night' Parade at Disney California Adventure Park

Also coming in June is a dazzling new float for the popular “Paint the Night” parade featuring Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone from “The Incredibles.” This new float will bring all of the fun and excitement of the Incredibles’ world to life with high-tech, pop-art effects inspired by the mid-century-modern style of the films. Dynamic and innovative visual technology will also bring Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack to life, showcasing their powers in surprising ways!

“Paint the Night” Parade makes its Disney California Adventure park debut when the first-ever Pixar Fest celebration begins throughout the Disneyland Resort on April 13.

  • Is the incridicoster open to ride?

  • Will Mickey’s Fun Wheel be opened in time for the opening of Pixar Pier? June 23?

  • Bummed I have to wait until June 23rd for California Screamin’ to reopen, as I have plans on coming back to Disney by the end of this month but oh well. I’m sure the wait will be worth it. I can’t wait to see what the Pixar Pier looks like, it’s going to be amazing I’m sure.

  • are the dates for the opening of pixar pier subject to change?

  • Omg, I am SOOOO excited for Paint the Night to return. My boys are enamored with that parade and we all cried the night of the last performance. And to have it come back to the much roomier, easier to access CA Adventure (not to mention, parent friendly with wine and alcohol services)??? Perfection!!

Is the parade route going to be the same as the Play Parade? Already thinking of where to scoop the best seating along the route!

  • Hi Erin, do you know if the Paint the Night Parade will have the same opening announcement as it did at Disneyland?

  • I am so excited that Paint the Night is coming back! 🙂

  • Do we know what will be replacing Ariel’s Grotto? We have a trip planned in August and we are bummed that the grotto is closing.

  • Will the coaster or fun wheel be open during the Pixar Fest in April? Or is the Cove Bar the only thing being temporarily opened for it?

  • Hi there do we have any idea as to when paint thenight parade will be running till? We go Halloween and would love to see it.
    Thank you

  • Christopher, do you know when pirates is scheduled to close!? Planning a trip for April and will be sad if I miss it!

  • So, I got an email from Disneyland (response) saying Pirates will be reopened by the time of our trip, June 20-23.
The opening of Pixar Pier will be on our last day at Disneyland. That is pretty awesome.

June us a great time to go,b.c everything is open, and most AP holders are blocked. I think we will be there on my oldest sons birthday, the 20th. Should be a great trip. Just hope Pirates will truly be open. This is my wife and daughter’s first trip. Pirates is a must.

  • Are there any parades or fireworks before Pixar Fest? My AP expires before that and I won’t pay 26% more than last year.

  • Still very curious about the fate of the Princess Breakfast. That was a highlight of our various trips over the years.

  • So still no details about the future of Ariel’s Grotto (RIP to the best restaurant in DCA)

  • You scared me for a few paragraphs, but I am so glad that Paint the Night will be returning earlier than June 23. I’m going to Disneyland earlier in June and I’m really looking forward to re-living my all-time most fun Disneyland memory: dancing along with my best friends to our favorite parade. I can’t wait to see the new Incredibles float – it’s my favorite Pixar movie and the float looks amazing!

    • Yes! “Paint the Night” will return when Pixar Fest begins April 13. The Incredibles float will join the parade in June. Enjoy your visit!

  • Looks absolutely wonderful! I think everyone can agree that Disney California Adventure was lacking the Disney aspect, and replacing Mickey Mouse and the gang with the hippest Pixar characters is really what’s necessary to keep this park timeless for decades and decades to come.

  • Can’t wait to see PTN again. Are you able to say if there will be a dining package for the parade? Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Liz – I’m sorry, I don’t have that information, but we will post here on the Disney Parks Blog if packages are offered.
