We DO love our Broadway performers here at the Disney Parks Blog.
So, when we have access to such amazing performers as Alton Fitzgerald White and Kissy Simmons from Disney’s The Lion King Broadway show, we tend to follow them around a little bit.
Kissy, best known for playing Nala in the show, and Alton, who played Mufasa, took time out of their busy schedule performing at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts to stop by our own “Festival of the Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
We caught up with the pair at the park where they got to meet the cast of the show afterwards and talk theater.
As a reminder, the Disney on Broadway series runs Fridays through Mondays during the Festival (or what we like to call a “Disney Weekend.”)
The last two weekends of the Festival – February 9-12 and February 16-19 – feature Josh Strickland, the original lead from Disney’s Tarzan and Ashley Brown, who starred in the original Broadway production of Disney’s Mary Poppins. Ashley also portrayed Belle in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast on Broadway.
All Disney on Broadway shows are included in theme park admission and take place at the America Gardens Theatre at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. Broadway fans can book dining packages that include guaranteed seating for a show and a wonderful meal. *
