It’s almost time once again for Egg-stravaganza at the Disneyland Resort! This popular egg-themed scavenger hunt has become a springtime tradition at Disneyland park, Disney California Adventure park and Downtown Disney District.
From March 16 through April 1, you can participate by picking up a map and stickers for $5.99 (plus tax) at select merchandise locations throughout Disneyland Resort. Search for special hidden “eggs” themed to Disney and Pixar characters, and record your discoveries by placing the corresponding sticker on the themed Egg-stravaganza map to represent that location.
Whether you choose to hunt for eggs or not, you can return your map to a redemption location for a special surprise. Redemption locations include the following merchandise shops: Elias & Co. at Disney California Adventure park; Disney Showcase in Disneyland park; World of Disney Store in the Downtown Disney District.
Purchasing limits will apply, while supplies last. Please note that no discounts apply and separate admission is required to enter Disney Theme Parks. The experience is subject to restrictions and may change without notice.

Kami — You only need your regular park admission (which, in your case, would be your Pass) to get in to Disneyland and/or California Adventure, plus the $5.99 per map. In other words, it’s just a regular day in the parks except for that you will need to buy the Egg-stravaganza maps if you want to redeem the prizes/surprises.
Of course, the Downtown Disney egg hunt can be enjoyed without theme park admission, but you’d still need to buy a map to claim the prize at World of Disney.
I’m not sure if I understand that last statement- separate admission is required to enter Disney Land theme parks. Is there another fee? I currently have a season pass, will I need to purchase another pass?
Well they have the R2-D2 & C3-PO eggs this yr again, if i remeber they only had them atnthe star trader?
I’m so upset that Disneyland has not made this event available to enjoy this year for a longer period and have cut certain passholders from participating! I have the SoCal pass and I have only ONE DAY March 16th to do this event. I always did this event and had a time to do different days, I would do Disneyland then DCA then Disneywalk. Sadly my only chance is now ONE DAY!!! Why was this done? I’m very upset by this. It should have been available for the whole month of March so we could have a chance.
Christina — You will probably have to go to multiple locations. In other words, in past years there was nowhere to get all 3 Egg-stravaganza maps in one location, or none that I saw, in any case. (I could be wrong, but I don’t think that has changed.) However, *sometimes* — and I don’t know if this is the case every year — you might find the 2 out of the 3 maps sold in some of the Disney hotel gift shops.
The primary locations for map purchases are Disney Showcase in Disneyland, Elias & Co in California Adventure and World of Disney in Downtown Disney. However… look up Michelle Harker’s Egg-stravaganza blog from February 12, 2016 — right here on the Parks Blog site. She listed off multiple shops where the maps were sold for each location that year. Many of those shops may or may not be selling the maps again in 2018. It can’t hurt to check!
Anyone know where the maps will be sold? And can I buy all 3 maps in 1 place or do i have to go to multiple locations just to purchase the maps?
Nancy — There are separate maps and hunts for Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney. So if you want to collect a prize for each of the 3 hunts, you’d have to purchase a map in each place (but you can collect the prizes even without actually hunting any eggs, as long as you buy the maps). While there are usually a few stores in Disneyland and California Adventure that carry maps, there is typically only one prize redemption location per hunt: Elias & Co. in California Adventure, Disney Showcase in Disneyland and World of Disney at Downtown Disney. You can always choose to get your map and prize at the same location, all in one trip, just to make it easier
Sometimes I will wait until I have found all of the eggs and then collect my prize when I’m done and have applied all of the stickers to the maps, and sometimes I buy my map and choose the prize at the same time, before hunting any eggs at all, just to save myself from having to make a trip back to the shop later in the day.
First time Easter time visitor: Do you have to purchase a separate map for Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney? Thankies.
Erin, it says on the map the redemption is until April 14. Can I still purchase eggs until that date?
When will you tell us what the eggs look like this year?
What do the prize eggs look like this year?
I remember when Disneyland had something similar when Mickey’s Magical Map show first started a few years ago. Looked around, got all the stickers….the “Special surprise” was ANOTHER sticker! I don’t think you should pay anything for this experience. Plenty of free online sources can give you this experience as well.
So happy! This has become a tradition. Hoping for some good egg designs this year. Looking forward to it!
Yay! I was eagerly awaiting this egg-straordinary news, and was thinking we wouldn’t hear anything for a few more days. After the Holidays and Halloween Time, the Egg-stravaganza is my next favorite time/special seasonal event at Disneyland Resort. And I LOVE that that the hunt has included both parks and Downtown Disney for the last couple of years. I do all 3 hunts in one day as well.
Plus, it’s always a bonus when the Egg-stravaganza coincides with the Food & Wine Festival, which happened in 2016 but not in 2017, and is happening again this year. Between the Festival and the egg hunting, it is full day of Springtime fun!
I am so egg-cited that its returning. It has become an annual event with me! I do all 3 maps in one day and what great exercise as well! Not to mention I collect those cute little eggs and display them on my vintage egg plates! Egg-cellent news!
