As we announced recently on the Disney Parks Blog, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will mark its 20th anniversary this year, and I’m excited to announce that the festivities will get a kick start with A Path Less Traveled, a special collection of unique experiences that give guests a fun behind-the-scenes look at the magic of nature offered April 1-May 5.

Disney's Animal Kingdom guests learn about what goes on behind-the-scenes as part of the A Path Less Traveled experience

Guests who experience A Path Less Traveled will participate in:

  • Caring for Giants, an experience that brings them closer to the African elephant herd to learn how Disney cares for these animals in the park and helps support their survival in the wild.
  • Backstage tours of the state-of-the-art Vet Hospital and Animal Nutrition Center, where meals are prepared for more than 1,500 animals.
  • Birdhouse nest checks as part of ongoing purple martin conservation work.

They also get VIP seating for Rivers of Light and an afternoon snack and beverage option. The cost is $59 plus tax per person, and all guests must be at least 4 years old.

Tours can be booked in advance by calling 407-WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529). Guests then check in at the Curiosity Animal Tours kiosk near the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Comments

  • Is there a time period in the afternoon (between the tours and the VIP seating at Rivers of Light) that we can book FastPass+ for other attractions?

  • I signed up for this last week. Really looking forward to it as I really enjoyed Caring for Giants. Wondering what “afternoon snack and beverage option” means. “Option” is tripping me up!

  • Oh my gosh! I know from firsthand experience that this is a wonderful deal for this collection of experiences!! Wow!

  • I really hope they decide to continue this past May 5. I have a trip planned for this December and I would love to be able to book this!
