Wildlife Wednesday: Introducing Augustus, a male baby hippo, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Ever since a baby hippo was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom last month – the first hippo to be born at the park in 13 years – Guests and Cast alike have been hungry for hippo news. Today, I’m thrilled to share that the hippo calf is a boy, and his name is Augustus!

The little one, who’s now 168 pounds, has a playful spirit and can often be seen right next to his mom Tuma. See the video below for a grand reveal!

  • I saw him last Sunday on the Safari. I was amazed. I have been on the Safari many times and never saw a baby Hippo. Each safari is truly a different experience. He was lying right next to his mama and seemed so small at the time. “Truly amazing experience.
