Ever since a baby hippo was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom last month – the first hippo to be born at the park in 13 years – Guests and Cast alike have been hungry for hippo news. Today, I’m thrilled to share that the hippo calf is a boy, and his name is Augustus!
The little one, who’s now 168 pounds, has a playful spirit and can often be seen right next to his mom Tuma. See the video below for a grand reveal!
Guests may see Tuma and her calf on Kilimanjaro Safaris and Wild Africa Trek. To learn more about hippos, visit DisneyAnimals.com.

I saw him last Sunday on the Safari. I was amazed. I have been on the Safari many times and never saw a baby Hippo. Each safari is truly a different experience. He was lying right next to his mama and seemed so small at the time. “Truly amazing experience.
I love him! He’s so adorable! And my being born in August, am partial towards his name.
Cannot WAIT until we see him this MAY!!
So many beautiful baby animals to see this Spring at Animal Kingdom!!!
